22R is the 4-cylinder Toyota engine famous for being un-blow-up-able in their trucks.

Damnit now I can't quote anyone. Tech issues thread here I come.

Yessir, as already pointed out, the 22r is the famous toyota 4 banger. Very simple, torquey, and bulletproof, provided you follow maintenance.

Think I'll buy some ratchet straps tomorrow and lash the gs in the back, just to see how it looks.

Man, driving home in the rain is going to be sooooOO un-interesting.

Well it is on a farm........tomato must be spanish for weed though.

Maybe it's all in the pronunciation ... if you squint really hard while hanging upside down "Cannabis" could sound like "Tomato"

toyota?

We had a 1998 TACO, I think it had a 2.4 liter engine tho. Anyway, it was indestructable. It was "totaled" two times by the insurance company. Each time we bought it back then banged out the dents it was back on the road.

Scottpa, do you know what part of Guatemala that truck went to?

That is where I spent the first 10 years of my life.

My family was there from 1964 to 1976. The 2 extra years in there was the time we were in the States every 4 years.

No, I dont. I put it in the paper and a guy came from the DC area to buy it. He said that his dad lived there and had another 89 RE. becuase vehicles are hard to come by there I guess it is smarter to keep getting the same ones so you can swap parts and make them last longer. Also, if I lived in a place where I had to keep the same truck for 20 years.. it would have to be a Toyota  :thumb:

When I watched that clip 3-4 months ago I laughed so loud I woke the baby.  :thumb:

The wife wanted to know what was so funny so she watched. She didn't quite laugh loudly (really loudly) until the part where they ran it through the 'top gear production studio'.

Those folks make good TV.

Good thing the US TV folks have almost learned how to copy their stuff.

Hopefully I can keep this goat going for 10-15 years.

Good vehicles are really high down there.

It's cheaper to get a good used one up here and take it down there.
