Alright, here's my predicament:  I'll be moving to San Diego in 3 weeks (I posted about this a while ago) and want to purchase a bike before I move.  I would LOVE to get a GS, but I need to finance some of the price even with a fairly nice down payment.  I could buy an older model with high mileage, but since this will be my transportation, I want to get something I can rely on day in and day out.  Therefore, I obviously need to go through a dealer.  I've searched every site I can get my hands on, but can't find one anywhere in the Boston area or even New England.  There's got to be someone on this forum that knows of a late year, low mileage, well-priced GS or SV650 at a dealer they could recommend.  Anyone?  Please?  I really don't want to to have to buy a car! :x  Thanks for reading this much. :)

it's not exactly what you're looking for, but where i work we got a used 02 with 3k miles on it, good condition, for $3200.  i know you wanted older and cheaper, but just throwing it out there fyi.

If you are implying that a dealer sold bike is more reliable, I think you are kidding yourself.  I'm in Southern California, and maybe there are more bikes here, but I found my gs, a 1999, in excellent condition, with 11,000 miles, for $2000 last November.  The biggest dealership near me wanted to talk "$3,000 to $3,500" for a much less desirable, older gs.

The girl I bought the bike from threw in a nice tank bag, and a perfectly good full cover, simply because she didn't need them.  Try getting that kind of deal from your friendly dealer.

No matter where you buy from, you have to be able to assess the quality of the bike yourself, or have a friend with you to do it: don't trust anyone, especially not a dealer.  Happy hunting. :thumb:

As Phil stated, there are more motorcycles here in California than anywhere else. Wait til you come out here and save yourself the money in shipping and the stress.

Did you just sell it?  A new rider at Dulono's Thursday (tonight) had a nice black/silver '02 with 3k miles and a fly screen; she said she just got from Tousley.

PS-I told her about GSTwin.  We must have missed you, though; I was there from about 7pm to 9:30, *what a blast* the meet was huge tonight.
