Well I passed my MSF course tonite and officially have my license.

we did figure 8's, quick stops and a curve at speed.
It was pretty easy and even the scary people passed.

It's a great course though and I would suggest it for anybody just starting out or even for those of you who have been riding for awhile like me.

I know it helped me cure some bad habits.

Now you need to practice on a daily basis...yes, you'll have to ride. :lol:

Also, now pick up a copy of Keith Code's "Twist of the Wrist II"-an excellent book on advanced/sport riding.

pablo buddy believe me if i could ride more often i would.  a 2.5 year old makes it a little tough to get away sometimes.  

Btw i've already read twist of hte wrist 2 a couple times. gotta keep reminding myself of the those survival reactions.

:mrgreen: when i took my msf course, it was awesome, although we used gz250's, but figure 8's, and especially slaloms were wicked, and the panic stops (2nd gear, downshift/stop at same time) were pretty cool also.

i liked doing the slaloms on the gz's. i scraped pegs acouple a times and learned to just stay on the gas no matter what.

that's not good.  in fact, that's scary.

all the scary people in my class failed.  there were only 4 of us, out of 12 who passed.  and the other eight, i would deffinatly not want on the road, so I'm glad they didn't pass.  they were really bad.

Here courses cost on the short side of $400 (NY)
Although they shouldn't have to pass you, it would be pretty criminal to fail someone and take that amount of money with a straight face.  Sometimes it just takes a lot more practice, well... more than 2 days of practice.

I'd be pretty miffed if I got failed and coughed up all that money.

Oh, by the way... counter-steering (push steering) works on bicycles... just a lot less stable unless you can get some speed going.  That's what I try out now since bike is my 2-wheeled mode of transportation for the next month

tell me about. the one guy had a super custom hacked up choppeer and he dumped his bike like 3 times during the course.  the other guy was a car detailer and sometimes did bikes so he was only taking it to learn how to move bikes around his shop luckily.  the ones that really scared were the 2 18 year old squids. the one was bragging about getting pulled over after class one night for doing 120 in downtown and the cop let him go.  The other one's bike was in the shop cuz he was pulling wheelies and hit the back of his friend's car. They were mainly taking the course to get the helmet exemption that starts here in PA in september.  anyone in the market for some prime 18 year old organs??

all in all i enjoyed course quite a bit and learned some new stuff.

Stupid as it may be, I could see some grizzled hog riders wanting to get the exemption.  They take it easy and don't push the envelope.  But sportbike riders?  Since when has it ever been the 'cool' image to go without a helmet on a sportbike?  

If they don't crash and have their brains run out of their skulls like a cracked egg, I hope they both take at least one big, juicy bug to the face at 120+ mph...  that'll learn them, if they don't crash due to the pain

now now don't stereotype.  squids come in all shapes and sizes and ages.  I"ve been to states with no helmet laws and have seen plenty of sport bike riders with no helmets, or pants or shirts for that matter.

I was in Fla a few weeks ago to attend a trade seminar for my job.  I rented a Honda VTX 1300 to get around   (nice size bike for Florida's fast, flat turnpikes).  Fla is another state with no helmet law...I observed more than 1/2 the bikers without helmets, and many in shorts, some without shirts, ladies in halters (did not see any of them without shirts ), sandals and flip-flops...just dumb dumb dumb.
