Just had one of the most eventful journeys of my life.

Was doing Plymouth to Portsmouth approx 200 miles
Check the bike over thoroughly this week, new tyres brake pads checked the oil etc... Looked to have enough oil (but it goes through it quick). Started it up to go today and decided to see have a bit of a burn for a bit. 50 or so miles in the engine is making a huge noise, banging like hell, just as I got onto the motorway, could hear it clear as day through my earplugs. Pulled it over to the hard shoulder behind someone else who had broken down in an old van swearing to myself in me helmet. Turned it off sharpish like. Go to check the oil and nearly burn my hand opening the cap, as smoke pours out of it. Not a good sign. Let it cool down, the lovely van driver gave me some oil before he got towed away and started it up again. Still making a very loud banging.

Try to ride it and get off the motorway to get it recovered or something, but about 200yds down the road its making a very loud rattling grinding sound. Pull over again, turn it off  again, try to start it up and the starter wont turn the engine at all. Tried bump starting it and nearly died with the rear wheel locked up nearly sending me onto the motorway.

Started pushing

Police show up. Wont let me push it on the motorway hard shoulder incase I get 'wiped out'. Have to get a lift off the road from them, while they try telling me that the bike isnt insured. Right. Told I have two hours to get it recovered. Nice. Eventually get someone to come out on a sunday, who takes it back to Plymouth for £150  .

Luckily my friend was also going to Portsmouth in her car, so she picks me up. And then crashes into the back of another car half an hour later .

Really not sure what caused it. I'd be surprised if it went through that much oil so quickly, but it does have a leak and it does burn it quite happily. Maybe it was the valve timings? Or just pure overheating...
I'm pretty sure I need a new engine. Or bike. Quite possibly time to get a loan. When I get back from this hellhole I'll see what everything looks like. I dont think its going to be pretty. Already had an offer of a GS400 engine for £200 fitted though....

wow man sorry to hear about that I kind of had the same thing happen to me but I wasn't on the freeway. Just to tell you the engine swap isn't that hard to do, if I can do it so can you.

wow that is too bad. if you lived closer as in america i could help cuz i have an engine that i am not using and is just gathering dust

So the Police say bike the is not insured eh? Didnt someone, (me) tell you this a few weeks ago? and why were you on the M-way, it is ilegal to use the M-way as a learner unless you are under supervision. If you have recently passed the full bike test I appologise and you have nothing to worry about but if you havent........you can expect a summons through the post in the next few weeks and a court appearance.

FYI engine oil serves two purposes. As well as lubricating it also cools the internal parts. Your oil level dropped, it was low to start with or its burnt off it doesnt take long at full chat, or its leaked out. Your bike has overheated and siezed, the engine is toast. I would hang onto that £200 though, if you are not insured and have been on the M-way with L-plates you may well be handing it over to the local magistrates court, with a bit more on top!

No frankie, I am not his mother. I am a law abiding, conscientious and experienced motorcycle enthusiast from the UK and I have been for over 25yrs. Black Sunshine on the otherhand is not. He is a total novice and a learner, he has admitted in previous posts that he is using his bike on the road without a correct license and without insurance in this country. I dont expect you to understand our learner and road traffic laws but I can assure you both are serious offences and carry heavy fines. Black sunshine is either very nieve, ignorant of these facts or just plain stupid and thinks he can get away with it, either way he is a risk to other road users and gives people like me and many other serious motorcyclists in this country a bad name and a negative image. As such I hope you understand my resent towards people like this.
It looks  like the law have caught up with him and now will have to pay the price.......I have no sympathy for him.

Yep , Completely Agree with Sledge , When i first got my gs i was a fool and rode it over 33 bhp ,on the wrong licience  and i got caught speeding ,  i went to court and had 360 quids worth of fines and had 6 points , which caused me to loose my liecience that was 3 years ago , since then i just saved some money and got my fulll test done ,and when im insuring it when its gets mot ,im sure its going to be fine ,i just got a quote on TPFT for 330 pounds with the bike worth 2100 pounds and 400 excess,

How many times do I have to say this.

I am insured and I do have a full licence. Do you want a copy of my licence and insurance certificate for you to believe me? I am allowed to ride on the motorways. Was not given anything from the police, no producer, nothing. They were very helpful in their special way (for giving me a lift off the Motorway).

It had a small leak, and it burnt it aswell. Like I said I checked it the week before I left and it was fine. Just unlucky with that one I guess.

Stuff like that is for the Tard farm, and what do u know ,a Hick possabley no about uk insurance? nothing so why try and add one more post to your collection ,

So Sunshine ,u have your Restrictors in as we speak , so its not running more than 33bhp , because if theres one thing that doesnt match the insurance ,u dont have it , and have some respect for Sledge , hes been riding 6 more years than you have been alive , and he knows a thing or two

If you want to argue about the in's and out's of UK registration and insurance, theres plenty of room in the TF, this thread is is about black sunshine trying to get his bike going again.

Now black sunshine has said that he has the correct insurance & rego, so take his word for it. If he hasn't, well I guess he'll have a couple of bobbies on his front step saying "you're nicked me beauty".

When i got done , it took 9 months before it even went to court
