Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Indeed, he is a awesome GStwin member and a all around great guy.

I've never seen that before, so I found it.  Awesome video!  I always thought working on the valves and other engine innards was intimidating.. but after watching that, it looks easy as cake!

Oh.. and poor Kerry leaving the wrong shim in

I have to agree with everyone, I watched the valve adjusting vid the other day, it was really good to see. I recommend to anyone to check it out, even if they are not doing a vavle adjustment, which I am not. Just cool to see how it is done. I wasnt a member when he posted but I am sure everyone has benefited from his advice greatly.

Kerry's been back, not that long ago.. but he didn't stay.

Personally, I think the gentleman has too much class to enjoy seeing what the forum's become... but that's only a guess.

If that bears any truth, I am disapointed in him.

As a moderator, he should have stepped up to assist with controlling the posts. As a mature rider, he could have provided his wisdom and experience to the new riders. Tough to do when his last post was almost a year ago on August 06, 2006.

Why is he still a moderator?
Common sense in not very common.

He is still a mod for the same reasons that Pablo is still a mod on some forums.

Laziness by the admin.

I saw him online, so I posted.  Nothing more.

I know this is a smart @ comment, but anyway,

"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated."  :icon_mrgreen:

Hello everyone!  A GStwin member dropped me a line to let me know that I was being "discussed" ... so I couldn't resist.

No comment on "what the forum's become", because as dgyver noted, I haven't been around much at all for almost a year.  And before that brief visit, it was an additional 7 months.

In a lot of ways, I miss GStwin.  So, why don't I show up more often?  Those of you who were here when I was posting up a storm might recognize symptoms of some sort of obssessive/compulsive disorder.  (Not saying that I really have one, but it sometimes felt that way.  ;) )  I was proud of my pictures and posts, and still am.  (I hope some of them are still looked at once in a while, and found to be useful.)

No, the thing that started me "drifting away" was that I could no longer justify spending work time on the forum.  Projects were coming in hot and heavy, and I simply couldn't afford it.  I can't remember as clearly why I slacked off on GStwin time while I was at home ... but Reddog787 is probably on the right track.  In addition, I started steering toward a new/resumed interest of woodworking & woodturning.  And now I'm discovering that I can't find time (or I'm not making time) for that either.  Sigh....

Somewhere, mixed into all of that, is the fact that _I_ am getting lazy at well.  I've been quoting The Eagles (from "Lyin' Eyes") to myself for years now, and trying to decide which it is:

QuoteDid [he] get tired, or did [he] just get lazy

In a way, my level of activity on GStwin was more of an exception for me than the rule.  Gee, that's a hard thing to realize....

Anyway, I'm still around.  I don't hear from GStwinners very often, but I still honor requests for beautifying and/or hosting avatar images, and I have answered several questions that have come to me via email (usually as a result of a GStwin discussion or stumbling onto my website).

I even have plans for at least one good-sized ride coming up.  A local friend and I are planning to take in the Grand Canyon around the first week of September; he on his 100+ cubic inch Polaris Victory, and I on my good old '99 GS500.  Anybody want to come along?  I've never been to the GC, so I figure it's high time I went.  We may start by heading east into Colorado and sliding south just inside the border, or we may go a totally different route.  I'm anticipating a 5-8 day ride altogether ... we'll see.

That reminds me; I need to do a valve adjustment to get rid of a slight tap I've been hearing.  Can anyone remind me how it's done?  It's been a long time!

I keep telling people that I may take up residence on the board again at some point, and I still think that's a possibility.  But I'm more than just a little afraid that it would "grab" me like it did before.  Since my "departure" I have watched my wife go through her own online forum ups-and-downs.  On one hand I think, "Yeah, those were the days!" and on the other hand, "Wow - that's kinda scary.  Why does she do it?"

For now, I'll just leave it hanging there ... surely I don't have to decide today:icon_rolleyes:

Glad to hear you are doing fine, as well as the wife.

Enjoy your ride coming up, and the extra time that you aren't spending here.

Hi Kerry,

I was around when you were on the board but not too active -- more a lurker.  Your videos and modification site have been very helpful as I planned a big ride in May.  Just wanted to say thanks!
