Truck ( we'll assume he was speeding): 90mph

30mph impact:  yeah, go out and hit a brick wall at 30mph and tell me how it feels and if your bike is OK

The more I look at those pics, the more they appear fake.  The dynamics of the rider hitting the back at that angle and height just don't work in my head

Nahh.   look at the angle the helmet struck the door.  His neck would have had to have been broken already.   If it was real the angle would have been milder and there would be significantly more visible trauma to the body.   FAKE

Yes they are real. The rider was doing in excess of 140 and the truck was not speeding. I ride with some people who know his friends. Less than one weeks riding experience and he had just attended the funeral of another rider a few weeks previously. He accelerated out in front of a group that was already well above the speed limit. C.O.D. was a broken neck. The speed of impact was closer to 85mph he hit the truck so hard the driver thought he had been struck by a car. 

I also know one of the officers who worked this scene. He's pretty good about coming up to the hang out spot and visitng with everyone.

Ok this has been a raging discussion on another board I am on that degenerated pretty badly. The fall out of this event locally has been even more scrutiny by LEO's if that's even possible a zero tolerance enforcement policy and a rather sad news video segment of a mourning family, and then friends of his spouting 1/2 truths, misinformation and false declarations of having learned their lesson.

I know a few of the sales guys in some of the shops around here and after the video segment ran people kept pointing to 600cc supersports asking if that was one of those "speedbikes that will go faster than 200mph".

He was part of a group of 7 bikes running well over the speed limit when he decided to pull out and hammer the the throttle.

Unfortuneately this kid never had an oppurtunity to get around the slightly more sedate old fart crowd that preaches moderation.

I have heard some more details but they aren't public knowledge so I will leave this here.
