Ok, I'm a dumb#$$.  I thought that foam filter oil was the correct substance to use on my K&N lunchbox.  Oiled it, and now the bike runs like crap.  Rich as hell between about 4 and 7k RPM and burning 90 miles to a tank!  Apparently, you're supposed to use a special thinner K&N oil.  Can I wash the filter in some gas to get the foam oil off and then re-oil with the correct oil, or do I have to toss the filter?  I really want to ride this weekend!     :kiss3:

Yeah, you should be able to wash it all off :thumb:  K&N's are pretty durable.   Diesel or kerosene will clean it a little better though.

Most auto parts store will carry it.  It's called the K&N recharge kit.  And you don't want to use alot of oil either.
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

:thumb:  Hopefully, the cleaner in the K&N kit will remove the filter oil you used.  I think K&N oil is some kind of fish oil extract.  At least that's what it smells like.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Thank you, all!  I rinsed the filter with some paint thinner (aka mineral spirits), used the K&N cleaner, and sprayed with the K&N oil.  Bike runs good as new now.
