Hi all.  My bike has been running like total poop since I've gotten it.

When I hit about 5500 rpm I have a huge power loss and the bike surges, bucks and bogs.  It seems as though it is not getting fuel, but switching to PRIME does no good and the little tank vent in the cap is clear.  I think that I will change the plugs (PO has some cheap autolites in it) and it could use a new air filter, but I do not think that this will cause these great problems.

So when I get back from San Jose this weekend for a conference, I plan to do a valve adjustment and a carb synch.  I think that this will really help to solve the issue, it's probably never been done in the 15 yr life of this bike.  I get how to do the valve check and adjust.  I just could not find a picture or diagram for the $5 carb synch tool mentioned in the FAQ (the Wiki links do not work either): http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=3521.0
and drew up a little POS version:

I think that it is clear...could someone with experience with this tell me if this is correct?  Thanks a bunch :thumb:

That will work fine.  Make the bottom U about 3' tall.  Opening the valve will reduce the sensitivity.  Personally, I don't use a valve, I just use a 3' U-shaped column of water inside 1/4" clear tubing.  I form the U around a free hardware store yardstick.    The valve will increase the functionality somewhat.  Use a small brass fish tank air valve from Wal Mart or the pet store.   :thumb:

Oh, I suggest you use water instead of ATF or other oils.  Much easier to clean up!
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?
