I know you are a guitar player Jake....I think you might like Keb Mo....check out this song.

Ignore the video....it's crazy.

Keb Mo "Am I Wrong"

Jake D

I bought that very same Keb 'Mo CD at Virgin Records in New Orleans in the year 2000, plus or minus a year.  I think he won a grammy for that, IIRC.  Great country blues.  Thanks for the recommendation tho!  That isn't even my favorite song on that album.

Yep...I think I got it around '98.  I was a little disappointed in his next albums.  I wish he would've stuck with the old delta blues stuff.  My friend met him at a show in Florida and Keb invited him to their room backstage.  He said there were lots of brownies.

I bet you haven't heard of this guy.

Miyavi

He has some unnatural stuff.

Jake D

What the hell?  No I haven't heard of him.  Reminds me of Tim Reynolds kind of.  And it reminds me of the time I saw Tim Reynolds play his live solo act at the Missouri Theater.  I was awstruck for a while, then tried to throw myself from the balcony.  Thankfully, my friend was there, and he was as annoyed as I was, and he talked me down fromt he ledge.

I didn't know who Tim Reynolds was so I googled him.  He's not my style (neither is Miyavi but I've never seen anyone do some of the stuff he does).  I think I'd get sick of both of them in about 10-15 minutes.

Jake D

And you would!  Tim Reynolds 15 minutes of fame came when he toured with Dave Matthews.  Check out Live at Luther College.  You can listen to it without reaching for the noose.

2 minutes of Dave makes me want to find a noose.

Here is what I like, Cory Osborn.  He is a guy I saw in Memphis recently.  He plays every week at BB Kings.  I met him.  Nice kid.  He has been playing since he was 11.  He is like 21 now.

My take?

WHERE ARE THE SNIPERS??

I've been playing a long time (going on 17 years) and I've always played blues-based rock but some of this nerdy/ghey stuff is interesting to me.  I find it pretty incredible someone can take Billie Jean and turn it into a pretty neat guitar tune, neat to some people anyway.
