bicycle computers

Has anyone tried using a bicycle computer as a speedo?  It looks like if might work as an alternative to buying an OEM speedo.  I've found a few Sigma computers based off of the uponone.com website.

I haven't personally tried, but I had my wireless roadie 'computer' in my pocket and it registered speed (99 mph) from something on the bike. Wireless might not be the way to go.

Wired wouldn't be ugly , just hide the wire like you do on a pedal bike.

I'm not bashing it or anything, but I'm curious to know why you would do this??   

Is it just to see how accurate the speedo is? 

I could see one use for it for me (being a Canadian) is for easy conversions, but converting KM/H to MPH isn't all to daunting, so still can't see a reason.

I would use a bicycle computer instead of springing for a new/used OEM speedo which I can't find one for less than $150.  It's not a perfect solution but definitely cheaper than replacing an original instrument cluster or buying a digital speedo/tach.
