39K miles and $55 and it looks like the metal bolt in pieces are broken off - but that may just be the way the photo was taken.
Cool.

No reset knob either.  I'd rather go to a junkyard and pay $20 for a dinged up one.    Some people are just stupid.

High miles are easy with a 35K dremel tool and a bit of sppedo cable...I prolly should do it to mine.

so when it hits the end, will it roll over or just stop!?

reason i ask is that they bike had only about a thousand miles. but the replacement sppedo i bought had 10,000   .....the possibility of correcting this ?
Kris Johnson

The Buddha

Its rolls into 00000 but I the speedo may also go backwards. try it with a regular drill set to reverse.

If you sell your bike stating it only has X miles when it has 1000X miles is against the law................If you get caught.  :?  :)   :o      :P   Sorry got emoticonhappy

besides ethical reasons your personal reason would be to get it to the original level.. you can eitehr go forward or backward with.. but most things only go forward.

I prefer do not ask do not tell..

I want to get a Royal Enfield 500 from one of the 49 states (not CA legal until 7500+ miles on it). and I was thinking of clocking it past 7500 ( a nice round #) so I can register it in CA.
But that only after I have the money to buy it.

Well dude get one from India...You might have some import hassles...maybe you could get the factory to get you a US serialized version. Then do the same thing you would.
Cool.

well i talked to a dealer in AZ who was willing to put the bike's registration under their name and let me ride it for a while.. (about 6-12mnths or so) so i can rack up some mileage..

and then later on sell it to me .. I originally buy the bike with my cash but its under their name (somoeone in that company) and they transfer the title to me..

however i have to have the money to do that.

Good thing 'cause it won't last 7500 actual road miles!  :P

actually some how i have to believe you on this.. well sorta.. there was this guy in irvine who was selling his 2000 military green and he had 24K on the frame, 12K on the engine, his first engine failed at 12K.. they replaced it or something like that.

However last i checked the guy didnt sell teh bike and he has put on more miles.

Maybe you guys are seeing something in the photo for the speedo that I'm not, but how do you know the reset knob and mounting screw are gone? It just looks like foreshortening by the camera to me, not that it is actually sitting on the surface.

Srinath just gets likes to rag on eBay sellers with things he wants for more money than he wants to spend!

Why would anyone want an imitation Royal Enfield, made with fine Indian metalurgy, copying the bad '40s/'50s Britiish materials?

No Srinath wants to see the ebay idiots eliminated by their own stupidity. OK camera tricks aside....would you not put up 2-3 pics at various angles for an item you were listing for over $50.

Its Indian metalurgy of the 50's, and copy of 50's british technology. AKA best of both worlds...Being sold in the 00's. New innovation they have added to it....get this...you not going to believe it...Electric Start.
Anyway I have seen these in India with over 100K easy. They take work and their owners are typically the kind of people that can get things done (In India you need the contacts and friends etc cos you dont walk into a store and buy your parts) but they have managed to put mondo miles on them. However if it were to take that much effort I dont see the point. Want a single so bad then buy a Savage. The worst thing about it is the name. Or an MZ660.
Cool.

the idiot cant even spell guage correctly. someone should find him and kick him in the shins

yamahonkawazuki

i believe the enfields(copies) are like the early jaguars. have top be religious in their upkeep, but they will get you looked at. btw the last post mentioned about the ebay seller mis-spelling gauge.whats up with this?

Maybe ask for another photo, and offer him $30 if it doesn't sell at auction? Easier than ragging on him in a newsgroup.

There are easier ways of getting noticed than trying to get an Indian Royal Enfield to go 100,000 miles - wear a tinfoil helmet with a model of the Effiel tower on top, a super man costume with a large D on the chest and an enormous codpiece.

It's like that wonderful axe - replaced the handle seven times, and the head three, but it's a great axe!

I though Americans spelled it gage?

The Buddha

Well The only problem with the $30 offer besides it being too high is that I dont really want the speedo.

Also for getting attention....There is a huge difference between positive attention and negative attention...The enfield I dont think will get you attention either unless you are hanging amongst Hard core bikes all the time though.
Cool.
