Turn signal/electrical problem

I bought my first gs500 a couple of weeks back to replace an old Honda CB1 which was rapidly heading towards being scrapped, and it'd been sat a while before i got it so i'm still trying to clean it up and getting it working nice and smoothly, but I have no idea about electrics so i thought i'd ask.

I'm not sure if this is a signal problem or a more general electrical one, but I've noticed that my turn signals flash faster the higher the revs.  If i'm at idle, they'll seem fairly normal, if i'm at five or six k about to pull off they'll be going far too fast, and if i'm at high revs on the motorway they pretty much go insane.  The other lights are also a bit strange, the engine can be off and they'll run fine, but with the engine on they seem to get brighter the higher the revs, and if it's chugging and about to stall they flicker with the engine.  Thats front lights, oil/neutral/high beam light, and the lights on the guages.  Any idea what might be causing this?  The battery's brand new, its got non-stock indicators but they're not led or anything, and I don't even know where to begin to look.  Thanks.

Classic symptoms of a faulty Voltage regulator/rectifier. The voltage in the bikes electrical system is increasing with engine speed and the generator output voltage, hence the increased brightness and flash-rate. They are not repairable components and I suggest you replace it as soon as possible before it takes the battery, indicator relay and various bulbs out.
Because you said motorway and not highway my guess is you are like me in the UK, this company will help you out and supply a replacement. I have used them many times in the past.

Also check an make sure all of your ground wires are in good shape and firmly attached to whatever they attach to.
All we are is the sum of our experiences.

Thanks, I guess i'll be forking out for a new rectifier.  I've gone over as much of the electrics as i can to make sure theres no loose attachments or bare wires floating around, but i wouldn't be surprised if i'd missed something.
