I saw a picture some where where the tires had the groves in the tred painted or something...if you were to do that any idea if it would affect the preformance of the tire and about how long it would last...I'm assuming you would need to use a latex based paint so it would flex with the tire.....Any ideas??

I think he's talking more like something like this:

haven't tried them, but would like to have comments about it
JARDINE RT-1, 22.5/65/147.5, K&N LUNCHBOX, NGK IRIDIUM , IGNITION ADVANCED, GALFER SS LINES, HH pads, PROGRESSIVE, KAT SHOCK, WOODCRAFT w/ GP shift kit, 15T, RoadAttack on KAT WHEEL

Trail Tech Vapor, R&G frame sliders, SM2 bars, HID retrofited projector, GSXR mirrors, clear LED intergrated turn

I'm pretty sure that latex paint would wear out pretty fast.  Also it would defy the whole purpose of the grooves and  eventually lessen the traction.  A tire can be created that way though just by using a dye in the rubber....kinda like white wall tires.

Yes thats it
Also I wasn't saying fill the whole grove...I was thinking more like a coat of two of paint just to get some color in there...I don't that that would make the groves useless

http://www.americanmototire.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d558.html  those are the tires i have for reference and the groves are very deep on them

They make Tire Pens.

Nothing I would do though.

Common sense in not very common.

I suppose you could use nail polish, though Im not sure how long it would last. Ive also heard that it is good to use on scratches since its easier to color match than AutoZone paint. A lot more color selection at Walgreens!

WTF???  this crazy idea has yet to reach this side of the pond, guess it rains to much over here for it to catch on!! I dont know what my insurance company would say if I had an at fault accident and they found my tyre treads half full of Dulux one coat gloss or Max Factor sunburst-blush!........my guess would be something like "you can f*** right off if you think we are gonna pay out pal""

ohgood

The local ricers have tires with yellow, red, and blue compound strips.

Would that stuff ever get hot enough to loosen and cause a skid ? Sorry, I don't want to take that chance.

If it doesn't make the bike go faster, lean further, or brake better, I don't see a need for it.

i would not do it . you ever tryed to take a turn and hit the paint on the road ? not a good friend of the tire.  i could only see one reason to have it .... to keep an eye on the amount of tire thats left ? but you can tell that .. once the groves are gone ( or almost gone in my eyes ) then you need new ones . i freak out when these guys around here are like .. yea .. i ride tell my wires start to show ..  :cookoo: guess they dont know . tires expand when they get hot .. then they go POoOoOwWwW!  i dont know about you .. but having a blow out at 80 or so miles an hour ( or 70 for you guys that like to do the speed limit) would be no fun at all !
