brake pads

I just bought myself as new front rotor as part of my front end repair.  What I would like to know is which type of pads do the least damamge to the rotor.  The Kevlar organics of the HH sintered?  I commute mostly and would much rather replace more pads in the future than rotors.


'93 gs500 w/ Red Oxide primer paint job. Hasn't been on the road in years but wrenching on it is my escape.

I got HH on a new rotor with no problems.It really depends on how hard you har on the brakes.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

I believe the HH wear on the rotor more, though I've heard even they aren't that hard on on it

MOTF i thougt so too but I didn't know that organic pads had kevlar in them.  I wasn't sure if the kevlar would be harder than the sintered.  I thought organics were softer, had less braking power, didn't last as long, but were much kinder in rotors.  Maybe because they are made of compressed animal bone and tree sap  :laugh: 

Any other opinions/experience would be appreciated!   :cheers:

seems I got HH the last time I got pads. it was whatever was recommended by the dealer as the 'stock' pads for the gs.

i don't vary from what the OEM put on things when it comes to brakes, tires, etc.

i can high-zoot with graphics and still stop reliably ;)

Not to start a debate or threadjack, but you DO know that most of what comes OEM is done because it's cost effective for the manufacturer, not necessarily because it's the best. Take for example, the stock springs/shock, and tires. A kat shock in the rear and sonic springs up front are about 1000000000 times better than stock. Sport demons in stock sizes are better than stock BT-45s in every department except longevity, and the tradeoff is worth it to most. Just a thought.

Yep. Know it.

I also know that compounds change over time, manufacturers make better products to keep up with competition, etc.

Just because it's the 'best' in one application (track) doesn't mean it's the 'best' for another. I don't really need a tire so sticky that it picks up 2x4's and only gets 1,000 miles before needing replacing.

Likewise, I wouldn't ride a bt-45 at the track, if I rode tracks. I"d likely change brakes, tires, compression and dampening, rpm range of power, jets, windscreens, boots, gloves, helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, drawers (prolly every 4-5 minutes) and deoderant.
