have you noticed that some sport bikes have a black or silver mesh covering some areas of the fairing?  i was thinking of doing that to my gsf.  has anyone tried it yet? if so what were the results?

Stupid hurts. Dress for the crash, not for the ride.

If the mesh openings are too small it may prevent air flow.

Remember our bikes engine block needs air flow where as radiator cooled bikes don't need air streams directed over the block.

question frankie, how would you cover ermm secure it to the bikes fairings?

The screen on the chin fairing is just secured with epoxy (or similar adhesive).
Common sense in not very common.

frankieG

that is what i thought. with the temp here in maine never over 90 and only in the 90's rarely i don't think it will effect air flow enough to matter

The chin fairing seperates into a LH and RH side... if you epoxy it to both sides, you're gonna have one hell of a time taking it off.

Option #2...... Epoxy washes standing on edge into the inside of the fairing (maybe 3 or 4 per side) and run zip ties through the mesh, and through the eye of the washer.  It will allow you to replace/remove the chain mesh, and because there isn't going to be much wind resistance (if its the width of mesh I'm thinking of) it won't rip out the "eyelets" you have now installed.

As a personal reccomendation for ease of use.... try some Double Bubble Adhesive.... works great.

No. I am refering to the chin fairing of the nakids, not the belly pan of the faired models.

What model of bike FG has makes no difference to my original post regarding to the mounting of the screen on the chin fairing.
