Hey All,

I've been working on a detachable solo tail (utilizing the plastic seat pan) and an undertail for some time now (longer than I'd like to admit mostly due to work).  Anyway, they are both almost to the painting phase (just a little more sanding).  I was wondering if anyone else whom as painted as any suggestions on which and where to get paint.  The paiting instructional material I have advise a 2 stage paint (paint and hardener).  I looked around at a local auto store and didn't see any two part paints.  So I am wondering if anyone knew any brands and/or website I could purchase from.

Also, the instructional material I have advises on sanding after primer.  Then just laying the color and the clear without any sanding in between.  Does anyone have any opinions on this?

I will post some pictures soon of what the pieces are looking like and some more informaiton on the trials and tribulations I had making these things.  Unfortuantely, I did not take pics along the way, though.

Thanks!

2 stage paints usually don't come in a aerosol can if thats what you have been looking for. Your best bet is to stop by a small local body shop and talk to them about where they get there paint from, they will be able to help you out.

That came out really good using a can.  Good Job.

But I have a compressor and a spray gun and am planning to paint with those.  I also am repainting the tail plastics because I removed the black piece and sanded down the tabs and filled the holes were the grab handle came out.  So there really nothing I need to colors with.  I think I want to keep it all white though.

The instructional material did say there were two stage paints that come in cans.  Looks pretty cool actually.  You just press a button on the bottom of the can and it releases the hardner into the cylinder.

I went with spray can bc I got no compressor but if you got it its much better you need car paint uretane and a dryer mixer or hardner (endurecedor o secante) sorry for my english hope you understand. you need to sand the area then spray some gray stuff sand again first layer of paint, sand again, second layer of paint, snad again, clear, sand again, clear then sand with 2000 sand paper then polish. vuala cristal clear shine in your tail.
