This is what I posted:

There is no reason why we cannot use this forum in addition to GStwin.com. If anything it will help to reduce the amount of bandwidth being used on GStwin.com, and that might help out that site. Might as well as coordinate our efforts between these two sites. It's not a competition. We should cooperate together. Maybe ask the administrators to coordinate efforts between the two sites.

True, that's why I suggested (hinted at) the other owner use those resources for his website to better support ours. Like using his server, service, and service provider to support our bandwidth. Now, I don't really pretend to know what I'm talking about. It's just sad to see such a waste of resources if no one is going to use it.

Did I say we had a bandwidth issue anymore?  NOT any more.  I got bandwidth coming out my ass now :thumb:

FYI. The last problem was a problem on the hosts server which has been resolved.  But hey, the more forums the better if thats what people want

I agree, it was just a thought.

JamesG, my appologies. I'm sorry. I did not mean to be so abrupt. I hope I did not offend. I did not mean to offend. Please forgive me. Respectfully, scratch.

Yea, that was Munnin and the board on his home page and he still sticks his John voodoo doll with a pin every now and then over that deal :o (no wonder my shoulder hurts so much).  But I still swear I never even knew about his board and the upgrade was in the planning for what? A year?  At least.  I finally got off my ass and found a reliable host and set up thhe new board.

There is one good use for a second board: discussion of outages of this board.  Otherwise, we might be left wondering if this board went belly-up or something.

Which reminds me: it would have been nice to have the gstwin.com web-page updated when gstwins.com/forum was down.  That would have reassured us that the forum was, indeed, coming back.
You cannot escape our master plan!

Well if people actually used the link to the forum on the main board  they would get an error message but nobody uses it anymore -they direct link here.  So why bother putting up a message there.  If there is a substancial outage you would find a message on GStwin.com

This gstwins address is only for the forum part of gstwin.  GStwin will be still up if the forum is down and if a long term problem arises a message will be posted there.

You gotta understand that in 8 months this board has been down for 3 days in total.  Less than one day back in April sometime when the host installed a new ver of PHP and the last 2 day outage was unacceptable but the server took a dump due to attack or abuse and it took time to fix it.  The problem was fixed.

This forum has been advanced paid for the next full year, The main site www.GStwin.com has been advance paid for a years service too.  They are both on automatic renewal so unless I die and my credit card is cancelled this site will stay.

There has been a forum on www.gstwin.com since GStwin's existance, in fact the forum came first.  I started it back around 1999 when Phil Espenshade had a GS500 forum and pulled the plug on it due to some people being troublemakers. (does anyone remember that forum at all other than me?).  WHen he dumped it I decided to start one and from there it grew till 2000 when www.gstwin started.

An active message board/forum is necessary for the survival of a web site, it brings in lots of people which some offer to help out either financially, with moderating or adding web content.  The financial help allows the site to self fund itself, this site has almost $100 already available for next years hosting.   Plus having a little extra $ has allowed us to make a couple donations to race projects.

Is GStwin.com perfect? No.  Is it stable?  As much as the web host is.  So don't worry about GStwin.  As far as I am concerned it will not be leaving cyberspace any time soon -not as long as I breathe oxygen.

Actually, my browser's home page is set to the GStwin.com main board.  I used to have it set to the message board, but whenever I opened my browser my "Last Visit" stats would be updated - whether I got online to read the latest GSTwin.com messages or not.

Sometimes I just wanted to do a quick Google search or something, and I couldn't take the time to "catch up" with all the new messages.  But I didn't want to "lose my place" either.  By starting at the main board, I can click through to the message board when I'm good and ready....
