Has anyone put a new swing arm on their bike? I have a 2007 gs500f and was wondering what kind of swing arm to put on the bike and where I could get the information on how to do it? thanks

The problem with the GS is that it is narrow at the s/a pivot. The options are limited. I have gone to dealers to measure other bikes to see if any might be an option to be a donor. A lot of modifications like this are not documented. For those of us that have done them, we just figure out how to get it to fit and move on.

Some have done swaps with an early GSXR s/a, not sure of the year but they look similar to the GS. The newer (up to 04 or so) GSXR braced s/a's are about 10mm too wide to use without some modification. Not sure about 06+ since I have other projects in the works.

I have done 2 RGV s/a conversions, easy since they are narrower. A couple of bushing and spacers were made along with a caliper hanger. Wheel choice will require spacers to fit as well. The problem is that the RGV s/a's are rare and fairly pricey.

I got an 87-89 swing arm on a 90 frame.Bushings have to be made to take up the slack of the smaller s/a bolt.Here's a link to some details.
