Reserve not working

I nearly ran out of fuel today because, somehow, it seems like the reserve setting on my petcock isn't actually working--it's almost like all the fuel gets used up with the petcock set to "ON", leaving nothing for when I switch it to reserve.

On the other hand, when I looked in the gas tank, there WAS a little fuel in there. I'm not really sure if it was not enough at all, or if it was what's supposed to be used when I've got the reserve setting set. Any ideas?

Do this conversion on the petcock and it will eliminate the fault vacuume diaphram.  http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=19363.0

switch it over as soon as the engine stumbles and you should not have a problem.

 Sounds like either your fuel lines are reversed or there is no screen tower in your tank. If the lines from the tank are connected to the petcock wrong/reversed then you can try to run w/ the bike on (res) and see if you can switch to (run) when you get low. That would be an easy way to see if they are connected wrong  :thumb:

The last time i put mine back together it was wrong so I would just run on (res) and switch to (run) when low :)

Tried it--it still died though, right at a stoplight at the top of a huge hill. I managed to foot-paddle it to the nearest gas station (  :laugh: ) which thankfully was just about 100' away.

+1 the first time i had to switch it to reserve it took a little while to get started up again. Now i can usually catch it b4 it starts to die down.

this happened to me too. my bike started sputtering and died, i coasted for a bit and was able to restart it and ride home. i just thought something got clogged in the filter or something, until i ran out of gas on the next ride.  :oops: so my reserve doesnt work either
