carb rebuild kit - UK?

fially took the plunge and stripped the carbs off to try to cure a fule problem that had been persistent for a few days (fuel leaking into airbox, rough performance, no tick over). From reading on here, possible float / needle valve stuck - seems to have been a needle valve issue, as one was stuck fast.

Want to put carbs back together now, but wondered if any of the UK contingent know if I can get a rebuild kit (new seals, etc) in the UK?

Alos thinking of adding K&N filter instead of airbox - any suugestions on new jet sizes? stock pipes still.

I would recommend a "Keyster" overhaul kit,  get them from here

Decent prices, excellent service.

They will probably ask for engine and frame numbers, also carb` make and type numbers (these are embossed on the side of the carb` body)

I cant comment on jetting, never done it. There is plenty of info on this site but remember UK and Euro spec carbs differ slightly ffrom the ones our  cousins over the big pond use.

My gs had been rejetted when i got it , so i didnt have to worry bout it ,thank god , btw i payed 50 quid for the K and N Lunchbox , but he growl u get is so worth it !

ordered 2 kits from bitzforbikes.co.uk - £12.95 per set, 3 quid postage. Should be here tomorrow so will let you know what they are like.....

May well leave the rejetting as I've a feeling the exhaust is due for replacing soon so may as well go the whole hog with performance exhaust/filters/rejets then.

Well, its said on the wiki , that there pretty much identical in power or what not , id prefer the Lunchbox  , because , well it sounds great!

it was rejetted when i got it ,i havent pulled the carbs off , when it was stock , it was wellllll to rich ,and then i put the mods on ,and tweaked the airscrew, and it works fine , no bogging or anything , i think its a 150 main , the K+N makes a ton of diff

Got carb repair kit from bitzforbikes.co.uk - excellent service. Stripped carbs, replaced orings, gasket and needle valve. All put back together. Finally back on the road!!!!  running SWEEEEEEEETTTTTT......

time to start saving for a new exhaust now.. Motad Nexxus I think......

Yep , i got the stainless Headers ,and the Chrome Pipe , Thanks dude , its not yet finished , but yea ebay is the one for it ,

Ive seen a couple go on there so its a better bet than paying 300 from them

Another exhaust option is Predator Exhaust UK (do a google). I bought the complete predator SS pipes and chrome endcan which comes as a road legal or sports option for about £300 inc VAT/P&P. Again I have seen them cheaper on ebay. The sports endcan slightly improves bhp and I think my road legal can makes the bike go better even without rejetting, which you don't have to do if you don't mind the odd popping noise (and I do mean odd) Both types of endcan have a lovely rumble sound to them. Bikers on bigger bikes always hear me coming behing them! I even think the sports endcan would pass an MOT as its not that much louder. Predator exhausts come with a 10 year warranty and fit nice hassle free. I have posted some pics of mine fitted.

The Nexxus is also E marked and will pass a MOT , That predator Looks like a Small to me , looks kool tho , Sanjay should put it on the Wiki

Jay Wolf, do you have any pictures of your bike that I can take a look at? Your headlight is getting me tempo! Its the 'Cyclone' Headlight right? Can you tell me much about it like cost, fitting, MOT ok? etc... I'm thinking about something different than the stock, and I don't like twinspots...

i got it for 130 including Delivery from Thailand, Thats pounds , at first i mounted it to the standerd Headlight brackets , with the Origanal Cluster , it fit perfect , then  i did GSX front end swop , and bought some 41 mm brackets , cut them down and mounted to the front forks,  im going to have them painted ,

Mot Legal as there E Marked , Brighter than the Standered , uses 2 bulbs instead of one , i used the Wiring from the Origanal bulb , and Shrink Wrapped the Wires to it , Fits fine , no wobble ,

Its to be painted but i havent as yet

Cyclone unit looks great from all angles and the flush indies are proper nice. Great great. I hope you don't mind that there will be another GS in the south-east of England with the same unit!

Im just getting her ready for her mot since modding her or what not , spke to my mot dude *hes a friend of mine * and he sed he'd pass it fine , not a problem , he didnt like the Ingrated Turn signals in the r1 light, so im having to get a pair of indicators , as u could tell i was trying to keep her flush

ID love to see another great looking GS , where bouts are u in The south east?

I'm in north Essex and i have never seen another GS rider in the 5 years i have been riding this area. My GS is being taken off the road soon so i can mod/service inclu. new cyclone unit when i have the pennies. Be good to have a GS meet for ppl in the area sometime.
