GF having trouble on GS

The Buddha

A GS may be harder to take off from a dead stop if its carburetion is not perfect. Its a low torque bike really that likes revs. Get the hting running as well as it can, and it still needs to rev to be good, but it can be OK without high revs.

+1 on carbs tuning and also carbs balancing (GS has two carbs, one per cylinder). Makes a huge difference. Also, as stated many times on the board, our US version is cold blooded due to smaller pilot jets used in the carbs (emission control) . Which means slow warm up times and dismal performance while not warmed up. A 17-tooth front sprocket mod makes the revs lower at highway speed at a cost of loosing startup dynamics. Been there done that. And yes GS is not a power demon and it's a bit overweight, so it takes some time to get used to. All of the above explain why you may not be phyched about the GS power capabilities.

Good you figured out the tire size. I hope the bike is better now.

And yes, even though I feel ready for the upgrade I am staying with the GS for another (third) season (even though money is okay for another bike). Still like it you know. And you'll find numerous others on this board sticking with the GS and liking it.  Go figure (for yourself).  :icon_lol:

Oh yea, you have to get a GF500 for a GF. Wife, you could try a GW500. GS 500 is good for Ghey asS people only.
