Things are coming along slowly.  I got my rearsets mounted but I haven't really messed with the master cylinder and rear brake switch.  Plumbed the connection between the pipe and the header.  Started working on a rear hugger but abandoned that for the time being to work on exhaust and rearsets.  Once I get a bracket made for the can to mount to, I'll clean things up and snap a few pictures.

Thanks, Oklahoma Mike, the car is a '88 Mitsu Staion and you probably know that it's the same as a conquest.  2.6L w/ 16g turbo, equal length stainless header, custom hardpipes and full 3" exhaust w/ hooker aerochamber muffler.  It's pretty quick for a SOHC four banger.  Got it five years ago from the original california owner with 65k on it.  It's my baby   ;)

A couple of things I have learn't from my rearsets A) they are cheap Sh*t probably should be on a pit bike then a proper road bike B)setting up the rear master cylinder is no problem but there is no brake light return spring mount and or switch mount and nothing to stop the rear brake lever from being pushed all the way down except the MCyl pushrod hitting its stop so you have no feeling in the rear brake also the selector shaft that comes with it is to short to give nice smooth shift.
I had to take mine off as I am about to do a long ride and did not quite trust them yet so I'll wait to I get back and try to make them better but have probably tipped to much money into them already.
Also the selector rod should have a left and right thread for the I bolts these only come with standard right hand threads, not good >:(

I'm glad I never got a set of those after reading that.

I put a set of SV650 passenger pegs & mounts on the other weekend and that was reasonably easy  :thumb:

I wouldn't call them cheap sh!t, but they're definately generic.  Having said that, I would buy them again.  Granted, I haven't ridden them yet, but from what I can tell, they're pretty stout and the ball bearings are pretty smooth.  I got them with modification in mind.  I'm going to rig up a spring from some other rearsets I have lying around and maybe a mecanical stop for the lever.  I welded plates to the frame, simillar to the ones dgyver did here http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=34220.60, and tapped them so the reaset would mount firmly against the frame.  In the past I had CBR rearsets and enlarging the ID of the rearset holes made them too easy to flex against the frame.  The way these are mounted is much better.

Looks like the R6 seat fits right up.  Why is the covering off the seat?  Did you have to shave it?

Your fabrication work looks good.   :thumb:
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Just one thing, get rid of the yamaha sticker thats on there, the last thing you want is people think that you ride a yamaha, cause you know what they say about yamaha riders  ;)

looking good, I like the way you have filled in that rear set mounts that is sweet but probably more effort then I'm prepared to do for them have you been able to sit on the bike to feel how stubby the pegs are? I have small feet and the edge of my boot was almost of the end of the peg.
Have to say though youre doing an awesome job keep it up  :thumb:

QuoteWhy is the covering off the seat?  Did you have to shave it?

The seat is half of the original...  I took the cover off to cut it in half so I could keep the same frame rest points.  I picked up some foam so I could change the contours a little but I don't think it's the right kind.  I read a write up about using "rebond" foam and how good it worked to shave it.  Couldn't find any locally so I just got some "high density" foam at a fabric store.  It really doesn't seem that dense to me but I'm going to give it a try. :dunno_white:

servus,

the rearsets are great. :thumb:

but the rearframe is too long. it looks ugly like this german one:

the gs is a short bike and you need a short rear, not a 3-seat-rear! :icon_mrgreen:

"the gs is a short bike and you need a short rear, not a 3-seat-rear!"

Not real sure where you get 3 seat rear, but I assure you that this tail is no more than an inch longer than stock.  I mocked it up before cutting off the subframe.   :flipoff:
