Squid sighting Sept. 12, 2007.

Bike:  Honda 919
Rider:  Male wearing jeans, t-shirt, sunglasses.  No helmet, gloves, or jacket.  It was only about 80 degrees F today in KC.
Squidlyness:  Entered on-ramp to I-70 behind cager.  Pulls two wheelies in succession (of short duration) and almost rear ends the cager in front of him, while traveling on the on-ramp.  Continues onto the interstate and rides into the sunset.  He acted like he was going to pass the car on the one lane ramp, but I guess his cooler head prevailed.

Bike: '04 Gixxer750
Rider: Male, young, jeans, tennish shoes, helmet.
Squidlyness: First, lack of gear. Second, tailgating, trying to make an unsafe pass. Third, and best, stalled bike approaching stop light...

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

I don't worry about squids any more, if they're stupid enough to not wear gear thats their problem.
The more I learn about women, the more I love my bike.

I spotted a squid this past Sunday while stopped for gas ... After seeing me and my friends, he pulled his bike up and did a wheelie down the road past the gas station... He landed the wheelie and looked at the palm of his hand like it was the first time he saw it.

Bike: Ninja I think... What other company makes lime-green bikes...
Rider: Male... Helmet, Shorts, Sandals ... That's it!

Cheers,
J

'Cuz THAT'S how hard it was raining!  Friggin wipers were bending with the strain of all that water!   :icon_twisted:

Bike:  EX500     ( I know it's hard to be a squid on one of those )
Rider:  Young male, jeans, jordans, wifebeater, 3/4 helmet
Squidlyness: Stalled coming to a light.   Over revved and had to slip the clutch coming out of the light.  Tried to wheelie, almost rearended a car.  Pulled out to pass the car, and succesfully wheelied ..........................right past a cop.      Started to run.  Another cop came up and boxed him in.
God I can't wait to talk to my buddy tomorrow and see what ended up happening!!

I live in downtown KC, on the Kansas side.  I was in OP for the last month doing a clinical rotation at Saint Luke's South.  I'd never seen so many Lexuses and Mercedes in one area before.  Other than that, the only time I really get down there is to go to Oak Park Mall on occassion.  Traffic gets pretty crazy around there during rush hour.  Do you know of any good twisties in your area?  I sometimes roll around Wyandotte Lake in KC.  Not the greatest road for leaning, but still alright.

I live downtown KC, MO.  I used to ride around WyCo Lake 5 times a weekend.

5 Highway is the best twisties in KC, by far.  And it starts about 2 miles from WyCo Lake.  Just go back west on Leavenworth Road, take a right on 99th Street.  99th becomes Hutton Road when you get to 435.  Take a right at the T in the road.  Go about 200 feet and take a left at the next T.  That is 5 Highway.  Take it north to Leavenworth and turn around and come back.  For God's sake be careful the first few times you do it.  People get killed every year out there.  But it is awsome.  There is one blind stop sign on 5, just over a hill.  There will be two stop sign ahead signs prior to warn you.  Take a right at that intersection.  If you want, I can join you sometime!

I've been on that highway before, but I was scoping it out in my truck.  I was doing a clinical rotation in Leavenworth and someone told me about it.  I remember it seeming like a great road to ride on, and being really hilly.  I'll have to go run it a couple times and let you know.

Thanks

And new riders.

Hey DrtRder23: Let me know what you think.  There are also some twisties in Missouri that you might like.  We call them the Alphabet roads.

I've never made the run but I hear hiway 32 (Linwood Rd.) from Bonner Springs to Lawrence is decent.

Bike: GS500E
Rider: Male (is it even necessary to give the gender?)   :icon_rolleyes:
Gear: Helmet, jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes
Where: 159th & Metcalf in Stanley, KS (west bound)

Drag racing one of these:

The bike popped a wheelie on launch and ripped through the intersection as minivans full of soccer moms and soccer kids waiting at the stop light looked on.

OK. I confess it was me.  I was out for my evening joy ride and fate landed me next to this supercar at a stop light.  It's a rare sight even in the upscale neighborhoods a few miles away, much less in my middle-class cookie-cutter neighborhood.  I was curious to see if this bike is as fast as it feels.  I really didn't plan to do a wheelie and I'm half impressed it got off the ground with me on it.  This little GS continues to surprise me.  Unfortunately, the Scaglietti didn't play which made me look even more uber-squidly.

Lessons learned:  $250k Ferrari owners don't waste their fuel on $2k bikes.  This bike will do a wheelie if wrapped-up tight enough.

i'd venture to say that if the ferrari had taken the bait, he'd have smoked you given enough space to open up. in town, maybe not. but who knows.  :dunno_white:

Bike:  R1 raven, lowered.
Rider: young male, no gear, no helmet.  AC/DC T-shirt swim trunks and flip flops. :icon_rolleyes:
Where:  Hilton Head Island, SC  on 278 going towards mainland.

I was going about 75 and he ripped by me.  I saw him at a light then he promptly slammed the throttle back :icon_rolleyes:
I hope his liver doesn't get screwed up when he dies,  with all the drinking I'm gonna need one

Honestly though, about 5 minutes later an ambulance came screaming by along with 3 cop cars

Oh, and the ferrari would have torn the GS a new one, even in town.   Just way too much power, GS doesn't stand a chance.
