89 handle bar mount on an 07?

I was wondering if any one has used the handlebar mount from an 89 gs 500 (clip on style) on a newer gs 500 (particularly a 2007) I found one on ebay, but its missing the bars.  if anyone knows anything about this or where a good place to find one would be, let me know.  thanks

I have the '89 clip-ons on my '92...I know that's not NEWER...but at least its not an '89....LOL

The '89 clipons won't work on an '01+ bike without modifications. The new style tank is fatter than the old style, and if you use straight bars, you'll hit the tank at full lock (and possibly when locking the handlebars)... If that's not an issue for you, they'll work great. I have an '89 triple with custom bent bars, courtesy of Turd Furgeson.

are we supposed to lock the froks?   mine wont lock NBD I dont lock them anyway but I like the position of my clip-ons. Im also getting a tad bit drunk
