www.cernics.com

OK guys I need some help and hope to help all of you as well.

I work for a Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha dealer in Western PA. I have pushed and pushed for the past year that I have been there to try and grow our online presence. Now I have the chance.

In short, I would like to hear all of your suggestions and ideas that you would like to see in a online motorcycle store.

Right now one of our locations sites look like this...

http://www.cernicscycle.com/

The whole look will change.. I am not looking for design ideas in that sense. I want to know your favorite online motorcycle related sites and stores. What would make your online shopping better?

A bit of a history of CERNICS:

We title sponsor the hottest Pro rider and X Games winner Travis Pastrana as well as over 100 other riders world wide. Cernics has sponsored more Top 10 Motocross  riders than any other company in the world. We have a GREAT name in the MX industry and it is VERY hot right now. I would like our site to reflect what CERNICS is and I would like you guys to help make it a great place for all motorcycle and ATV riders  :thumb:

Right now we have the ability to sell all of our models online, provide insurance quotes, financing and more. We can sell ALL OEM parts available for Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and KTM. and provide an online parts fishe:

http://www.cernicscycle.com/fiche_select.asp

We can sell items from any of the top industry wholesalers

http://www.cernicscycle.com/catalog.asp

And we do ALOT more.

Anyway. I hope that you all would give me some ideas and input. In exchange I would like to offer any of you a 10-20% discount on most items  :thumb:

Thanks

I like the site navigation on this site (and I have purchased from them):
http://www.motorcyclesuperstore.com/

I don't like MAW's navigation (dinosaur-era):
http://www.accwhse.com/

Whatever you design, it should be easy to find what you're looking for without a lot of scrolling and manual searching.

www.newenough.com/ is usually a fun one to browse, though one thing I don't like about their redesign is that sometimes when you select a category it brings back multiple pages of results.  If possible, keep categories to 1 page.

www.denniskirk.com is nice because you can easily search items, even aftermarket and universal fit items by make and model.  Sometimes this seems to pigeonhole you though

In general I think it is difficult for a dealer to set up a page because you're selling so many different types of things: vehicles, financing, insurance, OEM parts, aftermarket parts & accesories, apparal...  Then you have to split it up by road bikes, MX, ATVs...

IMHO try to keep the front page simple and just link to what someone would want right accross the top or left side of the page.  Inexpensive items like specials or closeouts (that are updated regularly) keep people coming back; then they buy other stuff to.  Looks like you used Powersportsnetworks's (I think that's it?) set up for the page, I'd try to steer away from that in the future if you can and make something more unique.  Invest in a professional website designer when you get the chance, it will put the site at the next level.  These are just my thoughts, I'm not in marketing.  good luck :thumb:

Cool Frankie.. Do you handle the online orders? I think you mentioned before that you would be working w/ their eBay items?

Give us some time!  :icon_mrgreen:

I like new enough, too. I'm not so crazy about cyclegear.com 's navigation.

There's a lot of good stuff at http://www.oneidasuzuki.com , but it's hard to find sometimes.

This one isn't motorcycle, but I've found it to be one of the easiest to navigate, and it's one of my fave "browse" sites: http://www.autohausaz.com/

If things are hard to find most people will just look else where.

GREAT...

Some good response now :) thanks guys... keep the ideas coming  :thumb:

Do you guys find product/vehicle reviews helpful? Do you read them or leave them?

The owners want me to do a e-news letter as well.. I dont like the idea but, do any of you subscribe to any motorcycle related ones? What are your thoughts on that?

What about other tools? Is there anything that you LOVE about a non retail site that you would like to see incorporated into a online retail motorcycle shop? Forums? Wallpapers? Live event video? Stuff like that?

I would like to incorporate some ideas that will keep people coming to the site daily. maybe a WOOT type thing? :)

I think reviews would be a plus, I try to find reviews on most of the things i buy just to get a feel for what to expect from the item.

I like the idea of having reviews on the site.  Just a quick user rating of how they like the product (1-5 stars or something like that).  Something like on Amazon or Apple's online store.

No offense Frankie, but I'm not a fan of the alpha-sports page.  Too busy, animated gifs, difficult to decide where to click.  Same reason I don't like MAW's site.   I'd like to see something with a simple nav bar along the top or side, with easy-to-read fonts and colors.  Easy navigation (keep track of how deep in the tree you are).  If there are close-outs or sales or new items, have it tastefully in the nav menu instead of flashing or twirling or anything like that.
