If you're already planning to get professional rider training, there's not much better advice.  (Assuming you're getting professional training, rather than having your brother-in-law Jimbo teach you.)

Tips? Hmm

I'd say a good tip would be not to urinate on an electric fence or a running motor ( if you do, at least keep it off the alternator - no, I didn't try this ).

The real lessons will begin when you get the license and be on your own on the road , use your gear and most important use your head , read a lot about riding

motorcycle safely and don't make the israeli rider image any worse than it is

If they make you do that u-turn in the box thingy, turn your head all the way so that you're looking behind you.

Yeah I didn't and I couldn't do it.

Actually peeing on an electric fence wont do anything because the urine stream separates after a few inches. -they did it on mythbusters

I can personally state that it DOES do something.  Also, they did this on Jackass and it certainly worked.  The guys from mythbuster must have a spray nozzle installed or something.

Anyway, to the original poster, I would recommend reading a book called "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough.  http://www.amazon.com/Proficient-Motorcycling-Ultimate-Guide-Riding/dp/1889540536
Even though I knew a lot of the basic tips from riding bikes before, I found it to be an interesting read.

LOL...

I've never tried the fence but a friend of mine decided to do it on a running car engine... that DOES do something for sure. :P

Make your first lesson the MSF Beginning Rider Course. Some of the stuff I learned surprised my big-harley-riding dad, and you walk away with new friends of the same skill level and plenty of reading material for before you hit the streets.

Now that I've completed that, I've found a nice, secluded area with long, winding, low-MPH streets to practice on for a couple weeks before taking to traffic.

Let ya know how it goes!   :thumb:
