A recent thread here discussed the demise of the GS500 in the US after this year, no 2008 model as reported by various dealers but not confirmed yet on the Suzuki US site.

In contrast, the new 2008 Ninja 500 has arrived on the Kawi US site, same old bike but new colors for 08 models.  At least one choice remains for anyone still wanting a 500 cc twin.

407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

While we're on kawi, has anyone checked out the new ex250? It looks pretty darn good.

I just got back from the Kawasaki Dealer show in vegas and they had the new ninja 250 there...

All I can say is....     SWEET!

The nicest 250 to date  :thumb:

Here's the new 250, looks like a modern sportbike now.  Neat.

I wish they could make a new GS500F like that  :thumb:

If they did, alot more people will be starting on smaller bikes thats for sure.

If you bought that Ninja 250, how quick would it take you to get rid of that ridiculous rear fender!!!

That's the first thing I noticed.

The new kawi is great. Too bad it's only 250. If it was 500 I'd switch from GS to kawi  :icon_twisted: . I love it's sporty look.
Well. I guess I have to stick with GS for a lil' while...   O0

That 250 looks bad$ss! Too bad you have to shift three times on the way up to 20mph. Why didn't they make the 500 like that also? And what is the purpose of the hideous fender plate that seems to be on the 500 and lower bikes only?

jgreth

That does look nice but a 250 is too slow. :P

Heck, in about 9 months I'm moving up to a GSX-R750, definitely don't want to move to a lower displacement. :P
Best Regards,

Jeff

fender is there cause 250 and 500s are to slow and people have plenty of time to notice a mud and dirt on your back when you're passing them   This doesn't happen on 600+ which are ridiculously fast, so no fender needed  ;)

cheers

250's arn't slow. That 250 will take you just to the other side of 100mph flat out. Hugely high revving, the old 250 from kawi reved way past 15000 rpm which  is bloody insane. And my 400 would smoke your GS any day. Hahaha. Displacement doesn't necessarily mean slower. Cagiva mito 125's (mini duca's) are capable of reaching 100mph with some very small mods.
