Improving Suspension for track (Progressive Springs + Katana Shock) Good Idea?

So...I've avoided doing anything with the suspension because I've been too intimated. Recent posts have changed my mind and made me realize since I am getting involved with track riding I should seriously upgrade my suspension.

The first things I want to do are.
1. Replace stock springs with Progressives
2. Replace stock shock with Kat Shock.

Does this sound like a good idea, the best bang for my buck, and relatively easy installs?

Im not really sure the racer and more experienced guys will chime in but would racetechs be better if your doing it for track riding?

Straight rate springs are better for the track (and for some the street as well). I have Sonic Springs in my track bike.
Common sense in not very common.

start searching for a 90-95 GSXR 750 shock
or an aftermarket one for a GSXR 750 (88-95)

might want to start with a kat front end before you get the springs

then get springs for a kat front end
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

oh... I left out the part that my track bike has a Kat front end.

Even without upgrading the springs, stock Kat springs are stiffer than the GS.
