Well, I won't vote Hillary and John Edwards is a duck, so maybe Rudy, although I am a bit pissed about his exploitation of 9/11.

Dont get me wrong I love RP. However I dont believe he'd even get out of the gate.
I also remember reading that he has raised a lot of $$ ... all from individuals or some such stuff. Thhis election is going to be decided on the BS issues like who smoked pot, who's against ghey and whos for abortion, not on the real issues like how is china screwing over the US or how has housing speculation screwed the currency and what Bernanke is doing to fan the flames and how he's going to help wall street rob the middle class and how inflation is going to rob the retirees. However who ever is in office the markets, and the laws of physics as it applies to them will take hold. Just that a president who can understand cause and effect is better than one who doesn't.
But ... another republican from texas ... sounds horrible doesn't it.
I love his desk banner "Dont steal. The government hates competetion".
Cool.

OK Srinath in the O and E and posting in a political bait thread after being AWOL for weeks. - OK guys you've now officially seen everything.

QuoteDo I not like paying taxes? Of course, but I know they are necessary- just like the tons of other things I don't like doing like cleaning my home, going to work every day and paying my bills.

Taxes are necessary, but forever increasing of taxes due to increasing of spending isn't.  Just because a candidate says we need to raise taxes doesn't actually mean we need to.  Most just don't want to cut our tremendous spending and they want to continue to add programs.

The best thing any individual can do in this country is educate his or herself on what each candidate actually stands for and understand the relevance (IE: is every candidate making realistic promises or even promising things that are good/bad for our country).  Too many poeple write off their vote to the leading candidate on their respective ticket.  I just think it's a shame and wish more Americans would understand what's happening in our country and what needs to happen to make our country more stable.

Schwarznegger was an easy winner as an independent. He should have stayed the hell away from the republicans. Now he really displeases the Rep loyals and he also displeases every one else with any political affiliation. However being CA, there are so many clueless immigrants (no offence but they aren't deeply educated about politics or they dont care) he gets by on name recognition and by parroting the popular opinion and by making a lot of noise about closing the barn door after the horse has run.
RP would be the right candidate to get the nation prepped for the eventuality that will hit us. The rest will all blindly lead the sheep to slaughter and go, we never saw it comming. What a shocking development. Man, inflation is sky rocketing. Must be illegal aliens and the chineese injecting us with their cheap goods and labor, and now they have to be paid back. OK grampa, hand over your pension.
Either way, the piper is comming and will have to be paid. Either plan for it, or have to pay and be unprepared and get screwed.
Cool.

seems to me the majority of politicians only interest is in whoever is funding their campaign. my two biggest gripes at this point is the high cost of fuel and illegal immigration. to me, both problems are not as complicated as washington would have us believe. "exxon-mobile breaks $8 billion in dollars in profits. price of gas though is said to continue to rise above $3 a gallon." all the while we still only actually pay around $75 a barrel. same price we paid for it when it was $1.50 a gallon. if you honestly don't think the oil companies aren't greasing someone's palm in washington to keep things this way you gotta be blind. my opinion of course. as for illegal immigration, well that is kinda simple i think. many of us think our military is spread to thin around the globe. bring em back home. post an armed guard tower every 50-100 yards along the america-mexico border. build a real fence on our side. have a shoot on sight order for anyone hoping the fence. it is hostile invasion after all. i'm sure we'd only need to shoot a few before the others got the point.  :2guns: As for China, you know, i'm all for free trade etc. you buy from us, we will buy from you. seems like a good arangement. however, i think recently China has been kinda f%$king us without the ky. we should return the favor. stop any and all trade with China immediately. have all major american businesses who have plants in China close them until China agrees to get their act together. I know this would suck for a bit for some of our companies who have plants there. mine would. I work for Crown Equipment, the forklift manufacturer. we just built a new, huge plant in China. within the last year. it was a business deal. a smart one at the time. according to chinese govt, manufacturers can't sell their product in China unless they have a manufacturing base there. we needed a plant in China to sell things to the chinese. i'm not in upper office management so i don't know if that deal is working as lucratively as originally planned. guess we'll see.

jserio - fence wont work. Its gotta be enforced electronically in the work place. Far better than fence. They can still fly in and sit after visa runs out.
China needs to be playing with the same rules as we are. No lead shaZam!, no nothing, china mart can sell stuff, and when people take it back to chinamart when sheite breaks, china mart should send it all the way back to china at their expense. Its very very easy to make somehting cheaper when you dont have to stand behind it when all your competetion has to. I wonder what chinamart's return policy will be like in a yea or 2 from now. Chineese sheite breaks and they will be forced to eat it, they will either kill the return policy or have china make stuff with better reliability. In any case, china mart should stand behind it and eventually it will trickle down to china.
Now of course we sold a lot of subprime MBS repackaged as AAA inventment grade to china and the whole oil exporting world. That paper will eat them soon, and then watch the fun as rampant inflation takes over for the whole world especially china and they realise they sold their manufactured sheite for really low $$ and turned around and bought worthless paper with that $$.
The true cost of somehting has to include the recourse when that item breaks sooner than its intended life. AKA a return policy and a warranty. Both of which need to be re assigned to the chineese who made them.
Cool.

Personally, I will vote for someone like Ron Paul.  I realize that it may be a 'wasted' vote, but I refuse to vote for the 'lesser of two evils'.  If nothing else, when enough people vote for real change, maybe the government will catch on...even if those candidates don't win.

Personally, I feel that the majority of people are not smart enough to vote.  Too many are swayed by useless controversial topics during the election.  If you remember a couple of years ago, many politicians jumped on the pro or anti homosexual marriage platforms.  Elections came and went, where did all of the controversy go?  People are also easily fooled by smoke and mirrors in campaigns.  I'm sure many of you know about NCLB (No Child Left Behind).  This has been one of the most worthless policies for education that I've ever seen.  Unfortunately, most people do not understand what NCLB actually means, or that it is literally impossible to achieve.

Personally, I lost faith in our election system when Bush was elected to a second term.  In the words of our fearless 'leader', "There's a saying in Tennessee....Fool me once, shame on...shame on you.  Fool me,...can't get fooled again."  A couple of other little gems, or Bushisms if you will.  WMD's...Axis of Evil...and Nuculer (Nuclear for those of us that speak English).

I'm neither Republican nor Democrat.  You have to sell me on the real issues.
Something is wrong with my twin...all of a sudden it's V shaped!  Wait, no, now it's a triple!  ...and I IZ NOT a postwhore!

Ron Paul will also be the closest any other party other than rep or dem get to the white house. Having brought the best of the libertarian party into the republican party is in itself a huge acheivement.
However another republican from texas just sounds bad right about now.

Oh stop, Srinath.  :) The fact that he is from Texas thrills me. It means not everyone from that state is like George W.

Also... don't ever say that your vote will be wasted. If you don't vote for the person you believe should be there, the right one will never get elected. My brother says that Paul doesn't have a chance so he's voting for Romney. OF COURSE HE WON'T HAVE A CHANCE IF YOU VOTE FOR THE MAN YOU DON"T WANT IN OFFICE!!! Sheesh I tell you.

All I ask is that you vote for the canidate you think should be in office, not who you think will win.

And especially not Hilary the Socialist.
Oh, by the way... Gulianni is not much different from Clinton. He is no Republican.

Well said Antibody.

Ive just turned 18 and can now vote. Im voting conservative, i could vote not to vote because there isn't a good party to vote for, all the parties have good ideas but none of them are willing to follow through with their plans because they don't wana lose subsequent elections. But the way i see it is you can't just vote not to vote (showing your opinion still) and im not going to just vote for Labour like alot of my 18 year old friends are. They're voting for labor because they don't think anyone else will win. Its exactly like you said why do people vote for the person they think is going to win just because it makes them feel like their vote did more. Im voting conservative because a change in government gives us a better chance to get new parties with better ideas and hopefully someone decent will step up to the mark. Plus i don't like how Brown is basically self elected.

Just ordered two campaign t-shirts from http://www.ronpaul2008.com/.

Some people may think he doesn't stand a chance, but this information is based on polls utilizing outdated, deprecated methods. The real truth lies somewhere between the real world and the internet, and I think that will be revealed during the primaries: enough Americans want a revolutionized democracy, with power given back to the states and the people, that Ron Paul stands a real chance.

My personal opinion: If Ron Paul doesn't get elected president, either this term or the next, America is going to die, and not with a bang, but with a whimper, as the peoples' voices disappear.
