Anti - want to hear some ron paul jokes ...

OK here is one ...

Man he made some great music, reggae and hip hop ... cool.

But 6.1 million in 24 hours with no significant corporate donation. AKA ... no body owns him.

True power to the people. Just hope he can get the Rep nomination, I now think he has a better chance as a democrat or heck independent. The republicans are hell bent on bible thumping and ghey hating they entirely miss the reality. He certainly is liberal enough for either of those.

There is more, OK a few more ...
Cool.

In the 1950s in the American south, you could have put segregation to a vote and you could have been successful in passing it.  Does that make it right?  Does it make it not hate because a majority of knuckle-draggers passed it?

I dont care if they can marry or not - heck I want them to marry - OK fine however ... subject to one major condition.
Keep it in your damn house, I dont want to see ghey ass everything ... on TV, Oh yea, he's ghey, she's ghey, he's ghey, they all ghey ... WTF ... being ghey is not a "professional" qualification.
Now that we know that 90% of what chicks think is good looking, considerate and desirable dudes are ghey ... booya for the rest of us. I am all for ugly chicks and good looking or rich or considerate or ... guys to be ghey.
Anyway - I am going to send out resume's with this description "15 years blah blah blah, 10 years in the blah blah, 5 years managing bla bla, and straight.
BTW since when did being on TV become an occupation. Oh yea, since every one thinks they are a real estate mogul cos they "bought 20 houses with no money down" and are flipping them for a profit ... OK good luck with that ...
BTW I was local HOA president too, and I can tell you, we are run by monkeys, 1/2 a brain is a huge gain, I'd settle for 1/1000 of a brain. Damn Idiots. Lower the level of government, the more they abuse the little power they have. You walk in the DMV, you'd think those clowns are capable of walking on water.
Oh yea, I need to find out if RP (who is from houston I believe) had anything to do with the design/implementation of the idiotic car pool system we have. If he did, I am officially voting for the other guy unless its Hitlery. In which case I am voting independent unless its a vote for Hitlery. Then I am going RP. Oh I forgot - I cant vote. OK NM, I may be able to vote.
We have this dedicated 10+ mile long lane that flows inbound in the AM and out in the PM from center of houston. And in 12+ miles its got 3 locations to get in and 1 way to get out only. OK good idea so far. However, the freaking thing has concrete barriers on either side for the whole length. As in, your car dies in there, you and everyone else behind you is F*(ked for hours. No way out of the thing. And to even top that, the freaking thing closes arbitrarily at 11 am in the AM and is closed though 2 pm. WTF ... 11 am is still plenty of traffic in bound. Then it gets even better, its closed outbound at 8pm and does not open till 4 am the next day. WTF, 8pm is bumper to bumper on most highways. What is worse, most of the older houstonians say that this convoluted POS is what created the mess in the first place. Oy yea, its closed all weekend. 8pm friday to 4 am monday.
Cool.

So many people get it wrong. It's not that people don't want homosexual couples to be happy, they just can't be married. They can have a civil union, to have the same tax benefits and so fourth. The issue is the word marriage and it's definition. The government has no right to take a religious word with a religiouse definition and change it. Marriage does not encompass two men or two women. It is defined as a bond between a man and a woman. That simple.

the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.

I do not think morality should be regulated.  One thing I did get passed was Sunday shopping. It has been a huge hit and it is the one piece of legislation that I will be forever known for.

Anti - the whole rest of the world does not share the narrow definitions that some people interpret.
We have 8 billion people in the world. Most religion books were written when the world was actually sparsely populated with people and more were dying than being born quite frankly.
Any method of population control be it ghey or be it just common sense is good. In the US however we are over run by illegals and europe by third world ghetto populations that we need a way to get native populations to counter the dilution (All words here are stronger due to me not having time right now to soften it) ...
As for marriage - I dont see why states should be involved in it at all. People regardless of gender should just be given the same license ... if you dont want ghey's to "Marry" and only have "Civil union", I dont see why straight people should not be "civilly united" as well. Heck, I'd give tax breaks to ghey people for not reproducing if it were me. I'd also tax and/or toss out the anchor babies and their illegal parents or tax them per baby if they are employed. 1 baby = tax break, 2 = tax break, 3, you dont get a break, 4 = 1, 5 = 0, 6 = tax at single non married rate etc etc. Scale it to be more $$ per child. After all schools are educating them free as is everything else.
Not regulating morality, I am enforcing the laws that were wirtten 100's of years ago.
Cool.

:o Wow I agree with some of the things you say Srinath. I don't think the government should have anything to do with this. Thats why The government should't legalize ghey marriage. At the most, the states should decide. Not the federal government. and of course overpopulation is a problem. Also, I am speaking for Americans, not some 14th century pimple faced, person from some abstract society. Americans. I am a conservative. I believe in the constitution. Seperation of church and state ands all that malarkey.

Anyway, this thread isn't about this.

Ron Paul's stance is the Federal goverment should stay out of this matter. I agree.

I'm actually really surprised at the good reception Paul's getting on this forum.  Most places people just don't even want to hear about it - which is totally fine, since this isn't a political forum.  But good on you guys for being so willing to discuss politics.

I'm also a Ron Paul supporter but I think enough has been said about him.  I want to emphasize something else that I believe is critically important, that I think we should all agree on.

We need an alternate voting system to eliminate the spoiler effect.  Approval voting is one way of doing this, and it's very simple - "choose one or more" rather than "choose one".  There's a lot more information out there, and at some point I might post a new forum thread about this, because I feel very strongly about it.

What is wrong with instant runoff voting?
I will say that IRV is better than plurality. However it has its flaws, and better systems (approval voting, Condorcet methods) exist.

And civil unions have been instituted where?  Only one state and Canada (which looks more and more like the REAL land of the free and home of the brave).

What if there is a religion that says ghey marriages are fine?  How is it OK for government to prevent that religion from marrying whoever they want?

And Ron Paul is copping out on this one.   Civil rights are not state by state issues.  If they were, much of the South would still be racially segregated.
