Hi all,

I just took the decals off the seat plastics (heat gun, goo gone) on my 98 gs and I am now looking into taking them off the tank. I've read around in the forum and understand that certain years' tank decals are under the clear coat? Has anyone out there with a 98 or similar removed them? What was the story?

p.s. I'm new, nice to meet y'all.

Gracias,
Dana

They all are under the clearcoat. Spilled gasoline and adhesive backed decals do not fair well together. I you want to remove the decals, plan on repainting the tank.
Common sense in not very common.

yup - tank decals are under clearcoat -

I just sanded them off last night.. I'm planning on repainting the tank anyway -

It's kinda a pain to get off. the adhesive gums up the sandpaper pretty bad.

you're gonna have to live with it, or completely repaint.

ohgood

Are you talking about the 'suzuki' on the tank, or the stripes ? I'm not sure if 98's had the stripes, but mine only has 'suzuki' on it. If the PO stripped the stripes off, I can't find any evidence of it. The tank hasn't been repainted from what I can tell.

I personally dig the 'suzuki' on the tank. The placement, font and size is spot on. Nothing flashy, just right.

Good luck with your customizing.  O0
