CONVERTING AFTERMARKET TURN SIGNALS TO INTEGRATED TAIL LIGHT

When I bought my bike, the previous owner had already installed front and rear aftermarket flush turn signals. I also had found a wierd bulky silver piece (possibly relay) installed underneath the fairings. It said "Triton" or something like that. I was wondering if that was a relay? Also, I was looking to install the intergrated turn signal taillight. If that is an aftermarket relay, does that mean that installing the tail light will be even more simple? That would make my decision to do this mod even easier. :)

By the way, the piece looks very similar to the picture on the left in this link:

Sounds like it is a Tridon electronic flasher. Hopefully it is variable load. With aftermarket signals and intergrated tail lights, the load changes causing the signals to flash faster which the variable load relay prevents. Even if a bulb is burned out it will still flash at the same rate. I have used them on several bikes with intergrated lights.
Common sense in not very common.

Yeah that's it, Tridon. I'm pretty sure it was installed because of the variable load issue but I'll double check using it's model number. Does that mean I'm one step closer to the install if that tail light? Or should I still use the "resistors" it says it comes with?

Resistors can be used to simulate the requirements of stock lights. With a variable load flasher they are not needed.

So, no need for the resistors if that is indeed a variable load relay. I wonder if the wiring for the front turn siganls will be affected by the installation of the tail light. Is there any type of wiring situation I should look out for?

you would use the same wires the rear flushmounts connect to for the integrated signals, you don't need to change any wiring or anything like that  :thumb:
