Just went to college (RPI) last Tuesday, and I don't think I can make it! I'm going in withdrawl already! It has been a beautiful week and whenever I see a bike on the street I can feel my heart break. Classes start tomorrow, and my only savior is the wallpaper on my laptop (a Ducati 999). I need to find some good bike posters for my dorm, does anyone have suggestions where I can get some good ones of sportbikes (or even better, GS500's)?

bikesnbirds

sorry, I made it sound like the GS500 isn't a sportbike.

I know what you mean. I have 51 wallpaper pics of bikes (mostly SV650). Good quality pics of GS500s are hard to come by though.

The easiest way to get wallpaper-sized motorcycle pics is to go to http://google.com
- click the "Images" tab
- click "Advanced Image Search" on the right
- type your word search (i.e. sv650 or gs500)
- make sure to set size to "wallpaper-sized" (or "very large" if you don't get enough hits)

Here's some other links that have downloadable wallpaper:
1. http://www.mcnews.com.au/Wallpaper/default.htm
2. http://motogp.tiscali.com/en/motogp/bzone.htm
- select rider from tab
- click on pic below
- choose what size you want (800x600, 1024x800, etc)
- right click to save to your computer when it enlarges
3. http://www.worldsbk.com/ (you might only find smaller pics, but you could make a collage)
- click photo gallery on left side

Another website that has lots of bike pics is http://www.bikepics.com/ (mostly amateur pics; not sure about size)
1. click "Browse photo library" on left under menu
2. choose manufacturer
3. choose model
4. choose year

Hope this helps,

Ask for last years or left over posters at the local motorcycle shops.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

i'm studying mechanical engineering, i'm a freshman, and classes started today. It sucks already. Talked to a junior on campus that just started riding a Ninja 250 (one of the few bikes that i could blow off with my limited skills and limited horsepower :) , but i didnt tell him that.) There a couple of bikes parked on campus, but i don't know whose they are. A really sweet 2004 SV650S and an even sweeter 2004 ZX-6R. Good thought about asking the dealerships for old posters. i can find wallpaper for my laptop, but i need wallpaper for my room!

I realize that that this post is dead, but I need to pass the time in college somehow ;) . Today I saw an '89 GS500 parked on campus. I'm here in Troy, NY at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute studying Mechanical Engineering. If it belongs to someone here, let me know!. I have to say, it had a nice fenderectamy job :thumb: .

I know what you mean about good weather and missing your bike.  Before I got my bike, everytime it was nice, all I could think about was riding.  The weather is just evening out though, the 2 weeks ago it was rainy for 10 days (I'm near Saratoga Springs).  Why don't you have your bike?  School rule?  Hang in there.  Hope you like hockey!

yeah, freshman cant have cars (or bikes) on campus.
i'm goin home this weekend though to get some crap and hopefully the weather holds out for some serious riding!

PM me your address and I'll mail you a half dozen or more "centerfolds" from Superbike and Performance Bike magazine...half naked women draped over some lovely metal and carbon fiber bikes....

I, uh, have no further use for them...
