Clutch Switch

OK, I just put on a set of handguards, just to see if they will keep the wind off my hands. i'm on a '05 F, so they contact the fairing a little, but we'll see how they are. I'll post on those later.

My question though, isn't about the handguards. While I was putting them on , I seem to have screwed up the clutch lever switch. As per several other similar posts, I tried turning it over and nothing happened until I jumped the two wires to the switch. At that point, it fired right up. I also tested the switch with a continuity meter which came back negative, so it's the switch, not the wires.

So, it looks like the switch is bad. How do i replace/clean/fix it? I can't seem to find any posts on how to do this. I have a Clymer manual, but there doesn't appear to be anything about fixing the clutch lever.

Any help?

Did you remove the clutch lever at any time during the install?

What you can do is remove the clutch switch and test is by hand once its out to ensure that it didn't get installed wrong.

When you pull the two black wires off the switch, one of the male connectors may have broken off...

That's what happened to me.

I put the 89 clip-ons on my 04 then decided to put the original long bar back on. As I put the original bar back on I forgot to unplug the two wires, I just pulled and I broke one of the tabs...

Anyway, I bought a new switch (part # 37560-38A00), it was like $10 from the dealer, two phillips screws hold it in, easy fix.

I did temporarily ride with the two wires jumped together, I don't believe it harms anything. You just complete the ground, so you don't need to pull the clutch when starting.

I didn't remove the clutch lever at all. I did have to wiggle it around to get it to where i wanted it, so that wiggling may have dislodged something.

How do you remove the clutch switch? I didn't find anything on the board about it and my Clymer's doesn't address it either, at least not that I've found.
