How to remove tach drive when it breaks off??!!!

Since I upgraded from a mechanical tach to an electric one I decided to do remove the tach drive, and replace it with a tach hole plug from the newer engine block's.

I searched the user forum and the previous post1 claimed that it shouldn't be a problem removing it.

Well....
I removed the screw with no problem but when I attempted to remove the tach drive I noticed it was a little hard to remove, so I began tapping it with a hammer and a wooden
block, and low and behold.  :dunno_white:

Any ideas on how I can remove the tach drive from the block?

I'm thinking of either:
>gluing the housing back on and attempting to rotate it until i can get it loose.
or
>cutting off the cog and drilling a hole so I can insert a screw extractor until I can get the broken piece off...

You may need to pull the valve cover and push it out. They normally slide out easily but yours may be damage preventing an easy removal.

Also a good time to clean off all that sealant.
Common sense in not very common.

The Suzuki valve cover seal is reuseable as long as you remove it gently with the valve cover.Mine has been removed 4 times by me and countless other times by the PO.

Revised
I should also add my engine has no leaks.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

cd

tap it, or not, and put a bolt or screw into it thats firm enough to some grip and then, pull

actually, i had started drilling a bunch of holes around the worm drive to wear out the housing it broke off from.

but I might try inserting a screw and pulling it out that way

Mind me asking what electrical tach you replaced the stock with?

substudio

I don't mind at all.

I replaced it with a newer GS tach off of an '05 model I found on ebay.
