Hello Everyone,

I want to lube my throttle, choke and clutch cables. My shop manual suggests I can accomplish this by just disconnecting the handlebar ends of the control cables. Will this be a pain (i.e. am I better off taking of the whole cable)?

If I need to remove the whole cables, can I do this without removing the fuel tank?

Thanks.

You can do the lubrication by simply removing the top end of the cable at the handlebars,   Motion Pro makes a tool that you put on the end, and connect the spray lube of your choice to in order to lube them.

there is no way to remove the throttle and choke cables that I have seen without removing the fuel tank. same deal for the clutch.

So have you been able to lube all three cables by just disconnecting the top ends? If so, I'll just do it this way (no need to make this task more complicated than it needs to be).

Thanks.

Yes. its very easy.  I dont have the motion pro tool, but I use the little straw and just FORCE the lube down the cable sheath.  same effect, just messier.

a little wd-40 sprayed down the caple once a month is good enough for me.  ITs not the oil they recomend but it works just the same.  Plus with the spray tube they provide i know it makes it all the  way through.  And yes its easier to just take it apart at the top controls then it is to take the whole thing off.
