89 clip-ons

I put on a set of 89 clip ons today. I wanted to mount them upside down but the clamps were hitting the pinch bolts on the triple tree. are the pinch bolts located in a different place on the 89 triple tree? I know someone else mounted them upside down here to be lower.

Anyway, I've been pretty busy with my bike so far this winter. installed sonic fork springs, katana rear shock, clip on bars....I got Hella angel eyes which I will mount once I get the bike inspected(don't think it will pass with them on). I also plan to do do something with the turn signals, as well as fender eliminator, pegs, and chain guard. possibly a hugger. I'll post pics at some point

89 clipons and 90 up standard bars are to narrow to mount upside down.you can cut,widen,and weld in new metal,but it's cheaper to buy regular clipons.

I did this mod to my 89 bars in about 94....or so

get a piece of 1/2 inch thick AL bar stock that will fit in the channel on
the bar mount and drill 2 holes in it to space the bars about 1/2 inch
fwd which will clear the interference problem
