What's the better rear shock linkage?

I have an 89' and am replacing with a 94' swing arm.

I noticed the 94' has stamped metal shock mount on the swing arm end.  The 89' has what looks like machined aluminum.

Which is better???

Thanks,
Paul

If you ever plan on replacing the stock shock with an upgrade (like a gsxr shock) then you should use the 89; the alum one doesn't need to be ground away to fit it.

Otherwise you could argue all day about the benefits of each, as miniscule as that would be.

Pablo, your the greatest.  I think Srinath had wrote somewhere, that the aluminum was better but, I couldn't remeber why.

I'm accually replacing with a 96' Katana 600 shock.  This should fit right in ??

thanks,
Paul

The Kat shock goes right in with either linkage. The gsxr shock needs a little grinding of the later model (stamped steel) linkage.

Use the steel...Keep the aluminum...Steel is better and stronger but I haven;t managed to break the aluminum on my 89 either so either will work...the 89 needs no grinding for a short clevise shock.
Cool.

I'll buy that aluminum you have so I dont have to grind my steel one for my GXSR shock.

Jason, I think I'm going to use the aluminim one.  Sorry.  I'll save the steel one for my 94' to experiment with.

Jason, reason is:  I'm not quite sure what shock I'll end up with.
