I'm running a 2001 Yamaha R1 Clear Alternatives tail light on my 89GS.Looky.Bolts right in and the stock GS sockets fit.No wiring needed. It's also brighter at night and in the day.Safer.

Theres 8.I figure 2 grounds,2 turn signal,2 brake,2 driving.I don't think that light would be very bright.Bright LED's usually don't need a reflector behind them.Tail lights on my friends truck are blinding. They have colored lenses and a black interior.Gives it that smoke appearance.I hate riding behind him at night.

I found something similar and about the same length. It's also cheaper. Check out this site if you are looking for custom stuff or even stock.
