New title?

How do I go about finding a title? I have not yet tried a lost title search from the DMV, I'm just checking out my other options. Anyone have any input on the chances of me having a new title written? Is that possible? Its the first step before I start upgrading and putting wrench time into my bike, so I want to start in the right place. Am I out of luck with no title? I bought the bike from my boss who lost it years ago in a move.

Get a bill of sale from your boss, make up a nice low ball sale price for document. Both of you sign it, and make sure the VIN is listed on the doc also. Take that to your DMV and in 3 weeks to 3 months you'll have a title.

This varies allot from state to state. We waited almost a year for just a simple title transfer from MS to FL. Your mileage may vary very very much.

Oh, and this is the first place we've lived that will actually print the title for you right there, for an additional $4. Cool.
