GSX-R Front End modded to fit GS500 - Ready to bolt on!

I have a '99 GSX-R front end that has been modified to fit a GS500 with a custom made steering stem. I had a machine shop measure and make this stem - it was done right, this is no hacked up mess! Fork seals were replaced about a year ago and do not leak to my knowledge. I've run this setup on my bike for several years now and it is well sorted, but the bike has not been riddin in quite a few months. I'm asking $500 or best reasonable offer for the setup and that price includes shipping in the lower 48.

Setup includes: (all parts from '99 GSX-R - this is not a USD front end)
Fully adjustable forks
Front wheel (dark charcoal color), bearings, and axle
Michelin Pilot Power tire - 120/70-17 - with 90% tread life left
Dual brake rotors, calipers (pads are nearing replacement time), lines, master cylinder, and lever
Stock lower GSX-R triple clamp with custom steering stem
Vortex billet upper triple with oil, neutral, and turn signal lights incorporated into it. The triple does have a few minor nicks and scuffs from the key boucing on it, etc.
Stock GSX-R clip-on bars

The only thing not included is the front fender (because it is part of a set of custom bodywork) and headlight. I'll snap a few pics this week and post them if there is any serious interest/offers for it. Thanks.

Yea I have seen this, and I bought the GSXR USD he rejected in lieu of this. That vortex triple is pure sex ... and done right is too neutral for this. His reject is "done right" this is beyond that.

Hi Dan,
time to part it out i guess.....
you better get between 500-700 for the complete front end bolt on

it's worth every penny of that

+1, the price is very reasonable :o
I paid almost six for my bolt up front end and it was pretty rough looking :icon_confused:

werase643

hey terry,
what ever happened to your old skool suz.....that I almost had a friend go buy in SC

It's sitting in a shed at the shop.  They threw it out there until I can get back to deal with it.  I owe em about $200 for labor trying to fiddle with the carbs and storage fees, and honestly if anyone wants to cough up what they want, they can have the bike with a clean SC title.  I've lost interest in it, I have a project now and it doesn't have any major problems. (where the hell is the 'hallelujah' smiley???)

Yup, time to part it out. The front end is worth way more than my asking price, and I have way more in it - but it has been sitting a while and could use a good cleaning...plus, my 3 car garage is stuffed so full of parts and half finished projects that I can't move in there, so I'm pricing my stuff to sell. I want the space back. And with a 3 month old I'm not going to have time to wrench very often, so I'm planning on selling 90% of my stuff and buying a nice, low mileage bike that I can just get on and ride - and that isn't modified to a point that the shop looks at me crosseyed when I bring it in for something I don't have time to do!

Thanks for the kind words too guys. Back when I had free time I put a lot of it into that bike. Sucks to part it after all that work! But I've gotten my use out of the bike...and quite frankly it's worth more in pieces. I had some serious interest when I was selling it previously, but nobody came with cash...and honestly I really wasn't comfortable selling it to someone who isn't comfortable with a wrench since nothing on the bike hadn't been massaged at least a little. At this point I'm looking forward to being able to move in my shop so that when I can catch an hour to work on one of the two projects I'm keeping (the Fairmont drag car and the '40 Plymouth Street Rod) I have space to work. Also looking forward to buying a new machine and riding to work again!

Now, back to the parts - somebody better buy this thing before my sanity returns! I took a few pics last night that I'll post later. I also realized last night that the cup on the m/c is cracked at the hose outlet and leaking - it will need to be replaced....cheap and easy to find plastic cup. No biggie.

details on the bike???

Dan made a really nice bike....sad to see it sell in pieces but when you build custom starting with a turd.....everybody still see's the turd  no mater what you do to it

i bet Jim K has 20thous in his monster GS 8 ball

i thought i read the wheels/swing arm were 13k

If I sell my GS i'd loose half what i got in it easily.....minus the many hours building it

Yup. A polished turd is still a turd! I had a lot of fun doing it though. The damn thing was hella fun to ride and handled great. It was a lot of fun beating up on bigger sport bikes, especially when you get a dumbass squid on a gixxer or R6 walking up to my GS with all the billet and custom paint thinking it's something exotic because it just spanked his 120 hp sportbike, and then you tell him it's an air cooled 487cc twin. Priceless. Somewhere out there in cyberspace is video taken from an R6 at the last track day I went to at VIR. I led this guy all the way around the track to the bottom of the roller coaster and he'd get by me in the long straight, then I'd late brake by him at the end and walk away from him til we got back to the straight. He came up to me with his camera after the session and said something to the effect of, "Damn that thing's fast, what is it?!" The dude from the shop that sponsored the track day nearly choked.

i still don't understand why people slap on crap bling to their bikes ...... to make it personalized.....it looks like all the other bikes with slapped on bling crap

buy matching leathers/boots/gloves/lid    and then buy a different color bike and repeat so you can continue to look like a poof

i guess i'm getting old and cranky ......   function trumps purdy all day long

I've been looking at bikes, because I'm getting something...not sure what yet. It's actually tough to find a clean, tastefully done or even stock anything sporty! So many bikes have the polished frame and/or wheels, extended swingarms...it's disgusting. I had what I thought was a good idea too, if I got a gixxer or R6 or something - vanity plate that says "Me Too"...but it wasn't as original as I thought. It's already taken in every conceivable combination!

werase643

Dan,
I got a loaner rat bike F3 from a friend until my D....then i'll probably buy it and ride it as is

comfy and one of the best all around bikes out there
went for a ride last week with a yungun(19) on the back

bad part is i've known her since she was 10

were fixing a GS up for her now

find a clean F-3 or F-4/4i  and ride
the valve adjustment is at 16k
and they don't break

Ken, now you are officially a dirty old man!  :icon_mrgreen:

CBR = Me Too, and if I can't get the plate I don't know if I want the bike! In all seriousness though...they're on my list. I'd really like to get something a little different than the cookie cutter sportbikes. Love a Triumph, but money might not allow. Love a Duc too, but the nearest dealer is an hour's drive and I don't want to deal with the maintenance. I'm reasonably good friends with the local Trumpet dealer. Still very well may end up on a F4 or a few year old YZF or gixxer though.
