Hello all I'm back with a numb ass after drivng from glorious rainy pittsburgh to boulder, albuquerque and back to rainy pittburgh again.

All in all I was across 10 different states and I estimate the number of people with no helmets was probally 85% or more. everywhere, cities, twisties, highways.  I saw a guy today with shorts and tennis shoes pass me at about 80 on a harley.

saw lots of sportbikers with helmets and gloves and no shirts and shorts... why bother.

The guys with the most gear... The dudes on the BMW's.  Some of those guys are hardcore.  I saw a couple of beemers up in the mountains of colorado that looked they had been ridden around the world a couple times.

saw a lots of cruisers on the inerstate with their helmets strapped to the back of the bike.  ---it's nice to know that the rear fender will be well protected.

anyway.. that's my impression.  By the way... I wanted my bike so badly in the canyons around boulder, has anyone ever ridden out there?

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

There are quite a few of the unprotected around here as well. Texas allows you to get an exemption from wearing a helmet if you take the MSF.

I saw a guy the other day who had a helmet around his left arm (none on his head)! :o I'm still not sure what that was about. Maybe it was for a passenger he was picking up.

Assuming you are talking about Boulder Colorado, then yes, I have ridden in that area all my life (till I moved to this hell hole for school). Great canyons but usually a fair amount of sand on the corners till late spring early summer. Strange area to figure out jetting of carbs too. One of the great rides in the area goes from about 4,000ft to a tad over 11,000ft elevation.

Only complaint about Colorado motorcycling....too short of a season. I would try to ride year round or until I  got caught in a snow storm on my 50 some odd mile commute, then its time to take the car until things thaw a bit, then do it again next year.
