E to the F ??

Hey... I have been looking for information on whether the 500F tank fits on the 500E frame, and more importantly, HOW TO information.  No luck so far, so I thought I'd ask here.

I have a 1992 GS500E, and the tank liner was flaking out and clogging the fuel system, so I had the tank dipped and re-lined.  The radiator shop leak tested it, and accidentally blew out my tank, and now it doesn't sit flat against the frame. 

I am interested in buying a BRAND NEW tank with no liner problems, but am not sure if I can get the newer F model tank on this bike, as I notice the tabs are different.  Has anyone made that swap?
If so, what all did you have to swap out to get the tank to fit?

Oh, and if anyone is interested in buying a slightly mis-shapen 500E tank with bullet-proof lining and a custom orange color.... I know where to find one!!

Plenty of threads on this swap. It will fit on the frame but the seat and tail fit will need to be addressed.

I have an 04GS F tank on an 89GS.The seat fits but would look better if it were cut down to match the tank line.

Ditto, I was going to hack up my seat as well but I have an 04 seat. Just gotta go see The Ken to make it all fit ..muuuuuwahaaaa!
