Hey hey hey... Yesterday i came home from work amidst the blackout, bummed cause i had duck all to do, and low and behold my "new" GS500e was sittin in my garage    .  Was the best time i've ever had during a power outage cause i just sat on it for like 2 hours (dont have the road course done which you pretty much need to get insured in Ontario - hence, no bootin around), washed it up about 3 or 4 times, sat on it some more, fired her up and just listened... So now instead of simply being an observer with the occasional question, i'm a proud owner    ...
--- 2000 GS500e, 7200 km's, $4000 (Canadian), has a few tiny knicks on the right handle and on the engine case   :x  but nothing really that noticeable. So anywho, without you guys' advice on how to raise the GS up to better suit my tall lanky frame, i probably wouldn't have bought the bike... so thanks a bunch    ... I'll be around the site much more now with all my beginner questions.

I've heard that a Katana 600 rear shock will bolt right in and give you another inch or two of seat height. I haven't done it myself (yet).

Putting 130/80 or 140/80 tires will lift things a bit more. Again, no first hand knowledge here.

It's cool to have landmarks like that.

Something that you're reminded of every once in a while when you jump on the bike. "I relish the night where the most colossal power failure in North American history allowed me the time to just sit on my bike, listen to it purr, and enjoy."

On 9/11 I came home from work after seeing the second plane hit and built a swingset for my kids. Every time I go out back to push them on it I think of the fact that I'm lucky to have everyone here, intact.
