Well, Yama, if you are going to vote based on who has a chance in your mind, than Thomson isn't the right one for you. I have one question though. When did people decide to vote not for the one that they believe is right for the job and decide to just back the winner, whomever it may be? Is it just to be able to say, "I voted for the complete F*@^ up in office?"

None of candidates on either side have shown that they have the first clue how to get anything done.  I'd don't care if they're a shaZam! kicker from Mississippi or a corporate lawyer from California.  What's important is the ability to comprehend the magic word:  DO. 

Both sides throw around too many buzz words and buzz issues to titillate the American public rather than getting down to the dirty and unpopular business of sorting out this country's numerous problems.

I would love to see Paul make it. Of all the candidate he seems like the one most willing to step up and get things done not just follow the party's wishes. Anti, I completely agree with you, people need to wake up and vote for the person they feel will do the job and quit listening to the media and big dollar corporations telling us who the most "viable" candidate is. It really is sad that people don't take the election process seriously enough.

I said "McCain", being hopeful that at least it won't be "double Guantanamo" Romney or "9/11" Giuliani, because Paul isn't realistic any more, which is just sad.  I'm sorry, but he lost New Hampshire badly and that's the home of the Free State Project.  I told my friend that I'm done actively participating in politics for the time being...this from a guy who's donated to Paul in the past on both of the big money bomb days.

It's just not worth wasting time arguing with people any more.  I thought it was finally bad enough that people would flee from the status quo candidates in droves, but as it turns out, "let's stay in Iraq for 100 years" is what people actually want to hear.  I thought we'd hit rock bottom but I was wrong.

Here's to international index funds backed by foreign currencies and inflation-protected bonds.

By the way, while we're talking about candidates who sadly won't win, Kucinich is another one that is worth paying attention to.  I've made up my mind that I will never say a bad word about progressives any more.  The concern that they'll waste money on domestic programs is laughable when you consider that neo-conservatives have wasted hundreds of billions on war.  I will always be a friend of the progressives and I can't imagine how any libertarian couldn't feel the same way.

As this guy puts it: "We disagree on many issues, but I look forward to the day progressives battle libertarians for votes. It's way better than watching corporate Democrats duke it out with evangelical Republicans."

It's sad asobi, but we should still vote for the Ron to at least justify our donations if not anything else. It's also the right thing to do in my mind. We've only 3 states down out of 50 anyway. It could happen?

after repeated attempts, it could be, btw i thought he was a libertarian?, anyhoo, i vote for whom i beleive can do the job, AND has a decent chance of getting in. no one ive seen in the field has demonstrated teh ability to make sound financial decisions

I'm just not that optimistic anymore.  NH was a real shock to me...I always blamed his lack of support on lack of name recognition but by the NH primary he'd had plenty of TV advertising and NH is the home of the Free State Project.  NH voters knew the ideas he stood for and voted against him.  I don't like that the primary season is spread out because it allows "momentum" to form when nothing at all has been decided, but it is what it is.  And right now Paul is working against a lot of momentum.  I wish we had approval voting so third party candidates could be viable in the general election too, but we don't, and they're not.

Anyways I'm voting in a swing state in April, but regardless I will probably vote for Kucinich if he's still in it as there is not an important issue that I disagree with him on.  Anyone who still calls themselves a republican these days is not going to be persuaded to vote for Ron Paul.  That party doesn't deserve to be saved from itself anymore.  They are going to lose badly in November unless the Democrats nominate Clinton.  I think at least the Democrats ought to realize that Kucinich's views are completely reasonable and I'm hoping that one of the top-tier candidates makes some overture towards welcoming the progressives' opinions into their platform.  I'm not holding out for Clinton to do so but maybe Obama or Edwards will.
