i currently run a 4-axis horizonta CNC Mill. i got to experience a lathe for a bit tonight at work. trying to make myself an asset to the company by learning as much as possible.  anyhow, my question is this, what types of machines do you operate? if you could pick a machine what would it be and why? oh, and my company has recently invested in the purchase of a new machine. it's a Makino. the model is a51. i think you can google that and find makino's webpage and check it out if intrested. it's a 5-axiz horizontal mill. it has an 8 pallet changeing system with it. it's still in set-up phase but there's chance i may be trained on it.

What brand coolant are you running there?

either castrol or hysol. i think it's castrol in my current machine but i think the new one is hysol.

Ok. Only reason I ask is that I work for Blaser Swisslube, we make metalworking fluids.

i have a correction: my machine used to use Hysol MB20 but currently uses WS3-154D. the new machine uses hysol MB50. They are all castrol products though. we also use a variety of velocite oils, vactra oils and DTE.
