I made one that bolts in where the rear brake bolts go through the arm. I had to mount the tag vertically and I bent it so that it flowed with the rear brake. I had to put a spacer on the aftermarket exhaust to keep it from hitting but it looks so much better than the stock location.

Yeah,

In the state of Florida it is Illegal! It must be placed under the tail light and properly lit and in plain view. In the O-town area they love stopping the sport bike crowd yet the hogs and choppers get away with it! I hate profiling!
