I took Pablo's bike for a test ride this afternoon.  I planned on going around the block and up the street and back home agian.  Well, 28 miles and a trip through the canyon later, I'm home.

It turns out it was just a fuse, I think that was mentioned by a few people Saturday morning.  It was the main fuse but it is kinda hidden under a connector that says FUSE on it.  Learn somthing new every day.

I am impressed with the way the bike handles.  Pablo, I've got to get my bike riding like yours.  It's fast in the corners.

I think you will be very happy with the corbra, jets, and a pod filter.

You know, if I take your suspension and put it on my bike,  Crap, did I say that outloud? Oh well.

hehehee..
I told ya... it was a fuse.

Anyway I need to trackdown vibrations again.. damn it.. I hate my bike!

Pablo can attest to the viberation.. maybe its time for me to do another carb sync by myself.

I really didn't know there are TWO fuses.  We checked the one, it was good.  The part about the bike 'push started' puzzled me.

Well, 0.25 cents for the fuse and $900.00 for the towing and repair, I think I made out pretty good.

Just kidding....

I'll only charge $500.00

I just wanna reiterate what a good guy pkaaso is.  If you hadn't heard:  Pablo's bike wouldn't start/run on Saturday's ride.  Paul volunteered to go back that night, pick up the bike in his truck, bring it back to his place and fix it.  And I know he's opened up "daddy's workshop" to help out others in the past.  Thumbs up.

I'm going to make one of those home made "Aquarium tube" style syc tools this week for mine and Quan's bike.

If you want to come down with your jets, we can jet and syc them at the same time.

thanks paul,

I will try get my hands on the jets if i can.. So far the bike runs good but i still cant figure out the buzzing vibrations. Its still better than what it was but right after the sync it ran really good but now its creeping up slowly, but its still better than what it used to be before the sync.

Riding home as Manjul's Buddha Loves You I have to say...the stock seat Sucks Ass. With my knees up and my weight a little farther back than it would be as rider on my bike all my weight felt like it was on my sit bones...and they hurt...alot....early...

My hands also got a little tingly holding on to the rear grab rail too...damn vibrations. Although I got lots of kicks from watching my convex reflection and the surroundings wiz by in the back of Manjuls helmet...quite interesting. Oh yeah, interesting....

thanks paul, it does ride pretty sweet, doesnt it?  Gsxr rear/progressive front, good tires, low handlebars...all make a great riding bike. It makes a world of difference.

I cant express enough (again) my gratitude...not only did you go back and pick up my bike and  fix it but you're trucking it up to my place...its a fine thing your doing...and greatly appreciated.

Maybe sometime next month or Oct. we might do the jetting on my bike and then throw on some pod filters...maybe a slip on if I've got one too? You up for helping me(?!)...

Manjul-check my site as I've posted the proper 2001+ jetting info I got from a member here. You were right....there was more than one fuse!

Yea, totally into it.  Get the parts and the time and let's do it.

Manjul,

Just a thought but, I wonder if your syc adjust screw may be vibrating and turning.  This would explain the slow progression back to the vibration.

Hmmm, I wonder if we can put a spot of locktite on the the screw when we sync it next time.  Or some JB weld..... J/K

pablo i'm curious.  how did you fit the gsxr shock to yer bike.  I remember when you did it, but wasn't there a prob with the centerstand or something?

Since bike sits a little higher the centerstand hits the bottom of shock linkage before it bottoms out on the (exhasut mounted) bracket/rubber stop. In the interim I zip-tied (no jokes!) a pair of cut down cycling shoe cleats to make up an additional 3/4" or so, letting the c/s hit there before the linkage.

This means the c/s sit a bit lower now...after I hit a dip mid-turn that slammed the c/s into the exhaust I just removed the c/s. I kept it and bought a long bolt so I can slip it on to work on bike (really only for oil change) but I dont ride with c/s on bike.

The shock itself is easy to fit. You need a bit of grinding of the linkage, but nothing major. You also need to route the gas line and the canister under the rear side panels with hose clamps (yes, I used large zip-ties  :nana: ). My bike has the CA emmisions cannister that complicated the routing of the hose (had to remove the cannister first) but otherwise pretty straightforward.

I highly recommend it.

Im interested in hearing your thoughts on how the older seat compares to the newer one? And any other impressions you might have...mirrors perhaps?

The Buddha

The carbs rarely need synching...My 90 needed it once after screwing it up by doing it by ear...then the 89 has never needed it till maybe now, its going through some very funky carburetion now I think...havent taken them apart to look in eons...so I'd not be surprised to find a raccon living in there...My point is basically if you take it apart and it needs a synch again...look for a broken or missing spring, or other bad things like the nub its supposed to sit on is bad or somehting. My friend tells me needles wear and in 20K miles or so you could have a needle that is worn enough especially the bottom part (almost down to the 1/8 throttle area) that it makes it way too rich, but open up more and a different secion of the needle is in control and its fine there...Things I have to check out too...
So look for things that may have made it go bad rather than just what went bad.
Cool.

Well, after riding your bike up in the slow twisties by my house, I really think the newer seat is far superior .  I gives you more to grip with your legs at the tank.  It gives a little more positive feeling in the turns, plus the padding in the inner thighs feels better too.

I WILL have to get some 'bar-end' mirrors.  I noticed better visability to the rear.  I don't have to look around my shoulders.  I can see what I need to see without haveing to move my head around.  HIGHLY reccomended.

Zip ties.... I think I need more zip ties.  That must me your speed secrect Pablo. :thumb:

Srinath, I agree with you.  Carb sync'ing shouldn't have to be done except for once in a while or after disasembly.

On The good guy's bike, we sync'd the carbs and it seems to reduce the vibration quite a bit.  Also, the power band seemed to be better up through the higher RPM's.

The problem is: Now the vibration is back.  Manjul and I will try to snyc again to see it this reduces the problem.  If it does, then I feel the carbs are "Going out of sync" for some reason.  I suspect the adjusting screw is not staying where we put it.

Or, could there be an internal balancing problem?  And, how could this change over a period.

Maybe attach some Zip ties in verious places to counter balance the virbration. That's it "MORE ZIP TIES."
