2008 Texas ride

wellll .. guys i was thinking ..... bigbend is nice ..... but so is carlsbad cavens !!!! ... maybe sometime in 2008 we can all meet up and  head to big bend .. spend 2 days there . then go up to carlsbad cavrens  and look around in the cave .. maybe stay the night there .. ride in the guadalupe mountins afterwords .. just a thought .. we would have to take about a week off .. just an idea ... not sure if the soon to be wife can get a full week off .. and i would like her to come this time .. so i'll probly haul the bike down there in the truck and trailer ( hoping we have her one by then two) so that would be 2 bikes in the trailer .. i could probly get two bikes in the back and we could split the gas 3 ways from austin   would cut down on gas prices . but its just an idea .. lets see how this turns out .

In '08 I'll only have time for one vacation (could only talk my way out of one week off), and that vacation is going to be to some of the best motard roads in the country...

DO IT! It is AMAZING! I loved it out there. A bit crowded at times, but still manageable. This summer I'm going to check out some of the Northeastern roads.

right now .. where up to 4 days off . a day to get to big bend   two days in big bend ( it will take two days to really ride it )  then a day back .  have a few guys from the CBR fourms said they where thinking about going .. big bend is really nice and super fun !

ok heres a little update for the moment .. fri. we leave for big bend .  the south and  south east ppl will meet up in Austin i'd like to be out of Austin by 9am so we can be in big bend by 6 or 7 pm . give us plenty of time to get rested and ready for some good weekend riding . sat. we will ride the same route we did last time . its an all day ride and its fun ! on Sunday where going to ride to Carlsbad,az ( 136 miles) to the Carlsbad caverns see that massive cave ride in some of the mountains there and then head back to big bend then monday head home . should be a good fun weekend .. i know coming from waco to big bend you will be looking at about 400 dollars round trip . thats gas food and everything . best thing i can say is look at how far it is from  where  you live to big bend . put in gas as being 3 bucks a gallon or so and then 78 bucks for the weekend ( thats if we get 3 ppl per room its 78 bucks a night and each person would end up paying for one night ) price might go down if i can get a discount .. in jan. i'm going to get a head count on how many ppl are going to go ! so hoping i can get enough ppl to maybe get us a discount !

this is who i have so far !!! the list seems to keep growing !!!!! this is not a final list .. i will be looking for the people that are for sure going at the end of jan. that way i can get the rooms set for those that know there going ! and then i'll have the maybe list .. i know things happen .. i'm going to try and get a tomtom and a bike camera for my bike .. so we can have some good shots . you guys really dont know what your in for .. its a blast .. be ready . have the money and lets have a good weekend in march !!!!!

Ok guys march is fast approaching before you know it it will be march 14th and we will all be headed to big bend !!!!! so get that money ready !!!!! I'm trying to find out the best way for all of us to get there .. i might have a guy coming from OK area i know theres one guy from Dallas .. then me from Waco .. i was thinking maybe .. the Houston ppl could meet up with the Austin ppl and the callas ( or northern ppl) could come to Waco and we could leave out from Waco and take a back road to big bend .. well .. its not really back road .. but its not all highway .. I'll just say that .. yahoo says it will take 6 hours ... but it will  take 9 hours... i know it took 9 hours from Austin ... I'd prefer no one to be riding alone there because if something happens then your alone .... i know there are a few of you that don't have much of a choice to go alone because no one is near you ... but we can figure something out ... on another note .. austinSBR.com has given me a good idea .. before you leave that night put all your personal info on a small business card i.e. emergency phone numbers, blood type ect.  ... I'll get a list of everything pretty soon . but if you guys already know your are going .. no dought in your mind that you wont make it .. pm  me and let me know and let me know where your coming from so i can get groups set up  .. so i can put you down as for sure going .. i will get a full head count at the end of jan. !

ok ok . so heres the update on prices

455 is the ruff est.

105 for the hotel (3 per room ) theres 5 going .. with the maybe 6 or 7 that may end up there
gas 150 just to get there and back ( i put it at 15 dollars a tank and 1000 miles round trip )
gas(2) 100 for just riding around in big bend
* the gas is set at 15 dollars and getting gas every 100 miles . ***
50 bucks for carls bad
and 50 dollars for food .. theres a a few fast food places down the street and then there will be places to stop and eat on the way .

make sure you bring a little extra cash you never know what might happen . prices go up and down gas tends to be a bit higher there
