fuel tank question

little seems to have changed on the gs over the years.  i have a 1989 and i am wondering if i can put a tank on from another year.  anyone?

I do believe the devideing line is at 2001 + Any seat on either side will fit respectively.

I also have an '89. You can put on any tank up to 2001.

The later year's seat molds around the lower part of the tank.  The earlier years meet at the rear of the tank.  This also effects the rear body panels at the tank.  

Think of it as : Tank, seat, side panels.  2001+ or -

The later tanks are slightly bigger - 1 gal I think.

Every thing else is the same.
